I've got SS for most of the perimeter counter-tops, marble for the coffee bar and island. Both are great, I would use either or both again. Pick what you like and don't worry about it. IMO granite is everywhere, doesn't mean it's not great just everywhere, I tend to buck trends but try and one up them. Doesn't always work out but I would never 'follow' just because the bus goes that way. It's the folks who step out a bit that tend to inspire the rest of us to look beyond the norm. I'm starting to think that conceptually the 'kitchen' itself is a bit played out. It's becoming more and more the focal point of the home but is still carrying a lot of dated ideas and norms. I'm waiting for the person to come along w/a whole new concept of the cooking/gathering environ and how it relates to the rest of the living space. I haven't completely wrapped my head around the possibilities but it's interesting thinking.

My fixtures are all set and so I won't be replacing them as there are more of them than this one. I have used polished nickel and chrome in a different bathroom when the lighting option didn't have chrome. It blends easily there. We moved and redid things 3.5 years ago when we bought the house and just want to refresh as I didn't put as much thought into the powder room vs other parts of the house then. So I'm hiring a wallpaper guy who can swap out the light but don't want to hire a plumber/electrician and redo everything as it's all relatively new.

I would go with white. My reasoning: it's a blank slate. However, function matters most, and this is purely opinion. Wallpaper -- yes, even if it's just behind your shoes. It's a small detail, but it'll make the space special. Towards what colors do you gravitate in your clothes? Choose something pretty in those tones. Again, purely opinion. And if your closet is typical, I'd only do one wall /the wall you see as you enter. If you don't want to do wallpaper, have ever tried stenciling? Very easy and cheap -- but time consuming. Yes to a sparkly light fixture. Consider your layout. What you don't want is one central overhead /a layout that'll make your head cast a shadow on the clothes. I'd also choose: - A nice rug -- either fluffy sheepskin or bright colors - A stool, maybe a fold-up style (because I am very short) - At least one valet rod so you can pull out an outfit - A mirror somewhere, if at all possible - Fancy pulls, if you have any drawers - Matching hangers in a pretty color If space allows: - A hook for "gonna wear again items" like jeans or a nightgown - A basket for dirty clothes And while you're at it, do a good clearing-out /toss things you aren't using or that don't fit. Nothing's elegant about an overstuffed closet.

I discovered today that Home Depot offers in person design help free of charge. I booked a meeting for January 3rd. We're planning to start our ensuite reno at the end of Feb, and with COVID - I am getting a bit nervous that I haven't ordered ANYTHING because I don't know what I need!! I am unsure of the dimensions that I need to work with to bring design option four to life. Can someone help me better understand what the standard dimensions are for a separated tub/shower combo? I've tried to search this info on Google, and it provides data on a standard tub/shower combo, not a separated tub/shower combo. Thanking you all for your help in advance!!
