Need help picking rugs
Im going for a sand black white decor. I need help with rugs for both under dining and the living room. The new table opens to oval so was thinking a rectangle rug but not sure the color i should go with. Drapes on slider door was done by blinds to go , not happy with them, so i covered a cornice with fabric to match black and white drapes (not shown) and will hang it to height to match other window.
The living room is open to dining area. I am only keeping tv couch loveseat and drapes, everything else will go. So need a rug in there also to tie in the cream sofa with the black and white drapes. (Hoping to replace sofa and loveseat with sectional in future.) also want to get 2 swivel chairs or a recliner.
Right now i need to get rugs , I feel it will help pull things together more.

Comments (2)What I've done is start with a base color, which you've got on your walls. Next would be to possibly find an area rug you like with that color or variations in it and has a second and/or third color. Be sure it's a rug you really like and colors that make you smile. Then use those two colors around your room with accessories. You can extend those three colors to other rooms on the same floor to tie them together. There are some beautiful bookcases you can add ceramics or art with that color scheme and certainly your books. What a beautiful room! Love the fireplace and the mantle. I am picking up the artwork now- i will take a whole room pix when i get that- i do not think the colors were as bright as they seem online but i will post it when i get the pix! So you agree with the coffee table/end table they are scheduled to be returned- it was too much white and my husband hated them. I needed some suggestions for coffee/end table look. Comments (9)my daughter has similar chair and grey sectional...she has windows just like yours! She did a navy and white wide horizontal stripe. WE NEED A PHOTO WITH YOUR BACK TO THE TV TO SEE THE MISSING SIDE OF THE ENTIRE SPACE. Take a photo of the space where the cat is in the photo you do have. It's important to divide your large space into zones: entryway, conversational /tv, walkway to far doorway, dining area. We can't advise you on this unless we see what the fourth side, the entryway, looks like.
Home Interiors is correct that in the dining area you can't get a rug large enough so that chairs can all be pushed back on it.
Concentrate your attention on the layout of your great room before concerniing yourself with the rug. That comes last. What pulls a room together is a good layout and you don't have one yet. All the furniture is shoved against the walls. You have a what looks like a loveseat sticking out from a wall. This looks awkward when you walk into the room. That sofa doesn't connect to your other one under the windows. Layout comes before decor choices like color and style.
Here's what to try right now to make your layout cozier before you decide on a rug. Float the loveseat into the space so the loveseat forms an "L" with the other sofa, almost as if it were a sectional. Please do that right now. It will create a conversational grouping and bring you closer to the TV as well. Once you have a conversational grouping, you can decide on a rug size and a coffee table.

End tables and coffee tables are leaving, i used them temporarily until i get new ones. Hopefully the sliding door looks a little better. The white curtains on slider was done by a professional company and looked horrible. So i took the valance off a window in another room, bought fabric to match drapes and covered it, i still think the white drapes old have been fuller. The printed drapes were left since it was a spec /model house. So i decided to stick to a black and white theme. So where do i go from here. The couch, sofa and drapes are staying. Was thinking of 2 swivel chairs or a recliner? What do you think? I need rug, tables, art work and the tv to move. Also how about the tv wall, should i put a fireplace with a very tall wall feature, ceilings are 20ft high in this room. Thank you, ideas are appreciated.

Get 2 big ones if you like the style. They are simple and go with everything. If you decide you don’t like the Rug in dining area it’s an easy return to Target.

Oh wow i really like them i ended up getting a much busier rug than i expected now im really stuck on what to do and my husband refuses to help me take it back.
