Andersen 100 Series Casements and Fixed? Track records?
Comments (9)I've been on vacation. I play the role of satisfied customer on these Andersen 100 threads. Since you've made your choice I just want to offer a little unsolicited advice. We were a remote build so I left some details up to the professionals. We have a lot of glass, and some of the melds (is this the right term?) contain both fixed and casement windows. In those, they decided to use the profile of the casement all the way across because "that's what most customers request." I would have done it by function instead. It's a little thing, and you may prefer the consistency, but I just wanted to throw in my 2c. Mine are black exterior and they look fantastic. I liked bronze as well, but my spouse wanted a more graphic look. Kitchen - 1 casement 2 fixed melded all with the casement profile. DR - 1 casement 2 fixed. Separated so the 2 have the fixed profile....See MoreAndersen 100 Series casement pricing
Comments (6)The 100 series is not the most expensive line even in casements. The 400 is a vinyl clad sash with wood jambs , so not really much wood in this package. Did you send your pricing through the Home Depot bid room? They often Have 15% sales as well. Sounds like you did some homework , keep us updated....See MoreCasement windows Andersen 100s or Marvin Integrity All-Ultrex
Comments (0)I have been in the market for windows for the last year or so looking over my options and pretty much narrowed it down to the Marvin Integrity All-Ultrex and the Andersen 100series. I currently have aluminum clad wood casement windows which are original from 1986, and are replacing with casements. I have total of 12 windows (5 of which are mulled, and 7 singles) as well as a sliding patio door. All of our current windows have rotting wood, some sashes under the aluminum clad totally or partially gone, paint faded off the aluminum, gaskets between aluminum and glass are shot and a lot of hardware failure, mainly do to rotted wood. We live in Southwest Pennsylvania so we see cold winters, hot summers and your typical day/night temperature swings. We are looking for a casement window that's easy to clean, low maintenance, must have a white interior and a contemporary look. We have pretty much narrowed it down to the Andersen 100 series and the Marvin All-ultrex, both of these fit what we are looking for. We are trying to steer away from clad wood for those reasons stated from before and the fact we want a white interior and we don't like the look of the pure vinyl. I was pretty much sold on the Integrity All-Ultrex, however with the lack of a custom sized sliding patio door started to make me look else where, and I was not completely fond of the somewhat flimsy widow stops, but it could be over looked. So I happened to come across the Andersen 100 series Fibrex which look very similar and in some respects look better as well and looking at the architectural details look sturdy and well built, only questionable is the piece that holds the glass on the exterior side, where as it's a one piece on the Marvin. 100 series Ultrex Performance number are pretty close to the same for both as well. The glass package to my knowledge is the same Cardinal glass and in both cases looking at the Low E 272. In either case we would be finishing off the interior trim in a composite material as well. I guess I am just looking for some feedback on these two windows, if anyone has considered the two, also in terms of durability, performance, longevity, overall fit and finish and how happy you are with the windows. As well as what made you decide on the window. Lastly if any installers have feedback on these as I will be installing these myself with a nailing fin as I am replacing my siding at the same time. Thank you!...See MoreMarvin’s Essential (all fiberglass) or Andersen 100? Casements only!
Comments (18)I am not someone who posts reviews on the internet, particularly negative feedback. But, given how much false information and untrue ads are out there for the “high quality” of Marvin, I have decided to do what is right and post my experience with them on a few websites, such as Houzz. Four months after we placed the order, Marvin delivered the windows. Some of the windows had obviously been dropped before delivery. Scratches on the outer frames and bumps on the inner side clearly showed that. We noted the issues as they were unloading the windows and took pictures on their truck. They may claim that they have good quality windows, but when they are dropped it basically does not matter anymore as the structure of the windows is certainly compromised. As for customer service, the windows were delivered in April and we notified the vendor and Marvin of the issues immediately as they were still unloading the windows. Four months later, we are still nowhere and nothing has been fixed. They just delivered one wrong frame for a window which we never asked for a fix and they are not even coming to remove it from my property. No word on when they are going to fix the windows. Total mess on their side and non-existing post-sale support. === Update of October 2021 I got an email from Marvin regional manager today; and it's the middle of OCTOBER -- 6 months after installation date. They plan to replace the broken sashes -- get ready -- in JANUARY NEXT YEAR. This joke is not even funny. Stay away from this company at all cost. They couldn't care less about you once they have your money. Go with anyone but Marvin. I mean, the worst thing that can happen is that you get broken windows and they never fix it --- well, that's Marvin....See MoreRelated Professionals
