Blotchy yellow leaves on persimmon tree

Hoping someone can help me. I recently moved to a house that has a mature persimmon tree. But the leaves are turning orange/yellow with blotchy broken and green spots.
Googling has made me more confused about what it is and how I should treat it. I'd love any help!

That might indicate a disease or nutrient deficiency but knowing your location could help. If you're in the southern hemisphere and autumn is near it may just be normal leaf color changing before they drop. Also, I don't see any fruits on the tree which are normally left to ripen as the leaves turn to fall colors. Below is a pic of our tree back in the fall...the fruits have already been havested...

Chlorosis is not normal and the trees will not grow out of this. Try to spray foliage with iron chelate. Epsom salt applied to the roots may help to lower PH. Excessive phosphate in the soil may be the cause as it blocks the intake of iron especially in the neutral to basic soils.

Put overhead and western shade over it first leaf if this is on the south or west side. You won't have to bother with overhead shade next leaf as it hardens off, though western shade may be a good idea for the 2nd leaf. Keep in mind as well that with sandy soil you may need to water frequently, using multiple emitters around, or just outside the canopy line but not for long to reach that 3 foot depth. The tips look like salt burn/underwatering. Salt burn would be unusual in sandy soil unless you have been fertilizing. But since it looks like it is on new leaves I am thinking iron deficiency. I am interpreting it from a close up photo without seeing the whole tree or knowing whether it is localized to an area of the tree. I do not know how common iron deficiency is in your area. In my area iron deficiency is almost always due to high pH but in your soil it may actually be lack of iron. Either way initial treatment is with chelated iron (preferably Fe-EDDHA). If high pH is the cause then adding soil sulfur and building up the organic content of the soil over time with a surface mulch is the cure. Thank you. I am in southern hemisphere. The local birds have devoted the fruit on the outermost branches.

My variety is a non-astringent type in the Ichi Ki Kei Jiro family, it's about 17 YO in that pic above. Oddly this is the only fruit tree we grow which is not bothered by pests of any kind. Birds, squirrels, deer, bugs, possums, skunks (we have them all) nothing bothers the tree or fruits all season long. It's as if the tree is invisible. The critters listed above do go after the plums, cherries, apples, pears, figs, and blueberries, but not the persimmons, which is so strange.

If this is going to be your first harvest they keep well in the fridge for about 2 months before getting too soft for me. If your tree is the non-astringent type then once they turn orange they can be eaten on the firm side. To me they have a nice mild tropical flavor. Happy Harvest!
