Small Deck Layout

I have a small deck space that I am trying to get creative with. I currently have a small dining set, but would like to explore a more casual feel this year.

The main issue with this space are two small pillars holding up a small roof over my back door. This leaves me with around 7ft x 10ft for the area.

I put together this layout centered around a 6x8 rug. Do you think it will work? Does it look too cramped? Should I just stick with what I have?

Great work on the layout and vision. A couple of observations - the spacing may be tight - I did a cursory image search to find out the furniture dimensions without any luck - what are they? How much space did you allow between the coffee table and the seating? Ideally, it should be 16"-18". It may be a squeeze to get to the chair closest to the rail and the far end of the sofa. If so, one workaround is to get a smaller coffee table, another is to get a smaller coffee table and chairs (maybe swivel), fit the sofa between the columns so it faces the yard and flank it with one chair on each side.

It's a beautiful yard and I agree with your thought about repurposing the space because I'd prefer an outdoor lounge area over a dining table.

Maybe, push peninsula even further back to give more space within. keep chairs with people out of walk way. need panel on right side of microwave hood. Keep same spacing on both sides of window to keep balanced symmetry around window. Stoves that close to corner is not ideal. make sure fillers in corner are wide enough so drawers don't hit handles

I had a client that owned a farm (mooo!) house that I did some remodeling and an addition for. They threw lavish parties and had a second floor door that lead to a roof area above part of the first floor. Part of the parties too place on that roof, but my client and his guests kept falling off the roof (which did not inhibit them from partying on the roof), but my client came to the conclusion that a deck built in place of the roof was in everybody's best interest, and that was part of my scope of work.

Thanks for your answer! For now it's our weekend place, but will be our retirementhouse in 20 years fron now! The kitchen/dining will be modified, I've already identified those points and furniture are not the actual ones. I did corrections to the space since that version of the plan in order to double the storage in the kitchen, shaping the it as an L (taking space in the section not shown) and to have a more efficient work triangle (with a range, not oven and stove top separated). Our question is really about the living room layout, including a wood stove and the type of furniture to consider.

How many people do you need to seat? I'd do two chairs in that space with a table between them.

From scrolling around Pottery Barn, it seems like, if you buy the smallest furniture you can find, you might be able to get everything on the rug with the bare minimum of clearance between the seating and table. It will be cramped, unless you find furniture that's pretty small. It's not going to look like your inspo pictures, though.

I note you have some adirondack chairs by your firepit. I'd drag them up and use them to experiment with layouts.

There are two of us (my wife and I). I have about 12in between chairs and table, but our house is small, so we're used to making due with tight space. Neither of us are very big people, so I think it should work. I hope…

Stop with the 3D, draw a flat to scale plan and add your furniture TO SCALE.

If you move the bbqs into the far corner kitty corner to each other, you could put the picnic table and bench against the wall under the window. Not sure about the dining chairs.

You would still have room for the seating where you have it in the renderings.
