Need help with exterior elevation of our modern home
Comments (50)The formal living room will not be used very often. I'd like to have it a bit separate from the rest of the business of the house for a few reasons: 1-my husband sometimes has informal board meetings for non-profit organizations at the house. 2-my MIL stays with us for around 6-7 months every year and it's a nice place for her to sit and have tea with her friends 3-dads usually retreat to the formal living during gatherings when they want to have their serious discussions (ie: sports, politics etc...) The dining room is used mostly for: 1-older kids HW 2-projects 3-formal dinner parties So I don't really mind if these 2 areas aren't well-integrated with the rest of the house. The major bustling will be from the garage to family room, kitchen, game room, stairs and bedrooms. I also wanted the kitchen to be in the corner of the house so that I could open windows and air out after cooking. Also, we have a 15' easement in our backyard so we needed to pull the pool into the building line so that we could build a pool enclosure around it. My 4 daughters will have the 2 bedrooms to the left of the house and my 3 sons will have the 2 bedrooms at the center front of the house, and our master bedroom tucked away in the corner back. So this is how the floor plan played out keeping all those factors in mind....See MoreMix match taste!
Comments (35)<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Hi everyone , thanks for your love , support, suggestions and also your criticism. Believe me the critics help me realize that I could possibly be a shopaholic! I admit i have been renovated for a while. From remodeling my kitchen to adding some stone to my mantel in the family room! To turning the garage into the boys room, replacing all the carpet into wood floor to remodeling my master bedroom and the bathroom expending my walking closet into my guess room! and finally upgrading the girls bedroom. The upgrading part to me was the easiest! Decorating on the other hand is where my Dilemma come in! My taste in decor it a little bit of everything. First, Comfort is something I cannot do without! Élégance i have to have! I had to say that in French! I am African & I am a French speaking girl! beautiful, rare and daring it how I describe my personality! To Translate That in the decorating Wold will quite be interesting! So going back to remodeling and redecorating was more bigger that i anticipated it will be! So that been said it’s taking a while, to complete so many different upgrades! The good news is, y’all come to my rescue!!! And I love you all!!!❤️ We made some progress, I moved things around a bit! The chaise and guess what!!!! It big too! But wait it’s so gorgeous y’all! I spent very little to nothing for what that chaise is worth! I hope you like the progress!!! Without further ado!!!! So I tried all the different angles to see what it would actually look like! Let me know idaclaire , Allison704, lisamatteis, kendrah, freedomace and all the folks in this chat room I appreciate y’all ❤️...See MoreNaming your home
Comments (26)Sorry, there's a family farm in our town (Hoff's) spelled with two f's and I went to school with the kids, so it's an old habit. Here's a photo of the oaks. You can't see them all from the same angle, as two are lined up and the other is obscured by some other trees, and then the last great white is long our creek. It looks like it might have been a trail tree, but who knows . . . Also have several red oaks, two beeches, a shagbark hickory, black cherry, basswood, 2 river birch and a couple of cottonwoods on their last legs, some silver maples, a norway spruce specimen tree, along with those arborvitae lining the property that I hate because I can't keep the deer off of them! Then smaller dogwood, crab apples, peach, and magnolia. "Treeville" might be another option . . . And here's one of my roses. That was this spring. It has a fungus and I fear it may be on it's way out, I can't get on top of it. I have several others though, but none other ones are this big....See More♫ Summertime and the cooking is ....uninspired ♫
Comments (45)It was long so maybe over a word limit? I'll try breaking it up into 2 posts. Ahhh.... I bet I know. I used the word that's like a nail but you don't use a hammer you use a tool to turn it. I even wrote the word using a 3 instead of the E trying to be clever with filters. part 1 So sorry! Did not mean to ask for help then disappear - had a couple of minor crises to deal with (all is well) and now I'm back reading through all your suggestions. First I want to address what oly said about women who seem trapped in a role - can't speak for anyone else but you're not wrong in my case. I have absolutely been the one in my marriage who is (for the most part) responsible for deciding about food. It was different BK (before kids) but ever since and continuing empty nest, it has been my role. It's neither good nor bad, it's what worked for us but I am well and truly tired of it now! That said, it's not going to change at the moment, maybe at all. DH is not retired, I am the one with more interest in different foods and here we are. It's not about his expectation that I cook because if I say we're having turkey sandwiches for dinner he's perfectly content to make his plain with turkey and mayo while I make mine with tomato, lettuce, aoli etc on toasted sourdough rye. You're correct again that I don't want to make two meals and could leave him to fend for himself but cooking something that's beyond basic food for just me is a hassle and not something I'm going to do regularly if at all. Sometimes I will say "that word" it and make something using an ingredient he doesn't like - he can pick it out - but it still irks me seeing things get pushed aside and thrown out. He is who he is, he is never going to eat asparagus or scallops or raw tomatoes or, or, or. Being the Chief Food Officer is at least 50% mental and I'm mentally depleted, hence looking for ideas but obviously there was more rant inside me. Tina we're in the same boat - we're a team and although the chore division is very much along traditional lines, I have no intention of cleaning the gutters or changing the oil so cooking it is! Tell me about your cooked apples and do you have a specific frittata combo you use? DH always has eggs for breakfast (work is physical, he needs the protein and calories) so egg based dinners are infrequent for us but once in a while it works. Jinx I can't tell you how jealous I am of your cocktails and nibbles! That's my kind of evening. The green beans sound yum. eld I do need a break and DH does like simple which is fine much of the time but I get bored with it. Appetizers are my favorite way to do dinner - little bits of really tasty things. 4kids I have made that cafe delites chicken many times! I have almost stopped buying chicken breasts because they have no flavor and are often dry so will def try that recipe from OUAC - I like her recipes but for some reason never tried that. My sons both cook and love experimenting with different foods - generational for sure but I also had them in the kitchen with me early on....See MoreRelated Professionals
