Comments (12)Thanks to all those who commented on the seedling! The first year it bloomed, it only had three or four buds. But I suspected grubs had gotten to the roots. So I was happy to see it with 13 buds last year. And it had really good rebloom last season, which was the season with the lowest rebloom in the garden in many years. With The Ultimate Sacrifice on both sides, it's survival may be iffy. Two hybridizers on NGA who live farther north than I do had all seedlings out of Ultimate Sac. die on them. Maryl - I did not bring Indian Ripple because it's so cheap and readily available that replacing it would be easy. Where's your Indian Ripple? Your Itty Bitty Kitty is cute. Brad - In High Regard is such a pretty lavender! I love the look of that one! Your Indian Giver seedlings are really nice. Kate - Isabelle Rose is so pretty in your garden. I've had terrible luck with that one. First it died in a pot. Then Nancy from KY sent me a replacement. My lawn guy repeatedly mowed it down two years ago. I moved it to a place where I thought it would be safe, but once again mowers mowed it down. I'd like to try that one again someday. Maybe the third time will be the charm. Nancy - I've thought about adding Idiot Savant. I'll wait and see if yours shows good patterns next season. Impassioned is one of yours I always admire. Debra...See MoreJ daylilies 2025
Comments (11)Love all the pictures of JOAN DERIFIELD. I missed taking a picture of mine. Debra: Love the Bubblegun Queen #2 seedling. Brad: I like your seedlings. Kate: Of course I like Jellyfish Jealousy and Jazz Me Blues. I enjoy seeing how the same plant performs in different environments and cultures. I also know that there are a myriad of factors that impact bloom appearance in person and over a screen and the type of camera. Jazz Me Blues certainly looks darker than mine. JP MONEYBAGS: A consistent performer JAMAICAN MIDNIGHT JAZZ ME BLUES: Showing a slight pattern Janet Grebus Murphy JELLYFISH JEALOUSY JORDAN'S JAZZ: Bloomed while sitting in a bucket awaiting a permanent home in the garden. This came home with me from my visit to Cottage Gardens. That is all from me. David...See MoreR daylilies 2025
Comments (30)I just realized I didn't post a photo of Royal Invitation, which is one of the best Emmerichs I grow. It's a great multiplier and rebloomer and was taller for me than registered. I didn't get a photo of it last year, but here are a couple from previous seasons. Sometimes it's toothy, and sometimes it's not. In cool temps it has mostly a white edge, and in high heat the edge is cream and gold. Royal Invitation Royal Invitation clump I got some dynamite kids from it, which unfortunately got left behind. I'll have to duplicate the cross here. Royal Invitation X (Razor Sharp X Spacecoast Night Vision) Debra...See MoreSj-Sz daylilies 2025
Comments (17)Silver Sword has always been slow here. Stealth Bomber seems to do well for you, Brad. Snow Lake Crazies looks interesting. Sweet Summer Secret would probably be tender here. Strawberry Romance seems to have good bud count. Only hybridizer's pic in NGA database. I wonder why. Is Sweet Child of Mine in Indiana? Sweet Tart is an appealing color. Song of Promise I like; I have Nobel out of it. Stargate Portal never did anything here. I am interested in the Evick varieties, but they are always a question mark. He seems to introduce a lot. Comes from a snow-cover area. Such a Flirt looks interesting. Do you like it better, David, than the Bennett cultivars with a midrib? Again, a hybridizer I am interested in, but don't want to spend years with a cultivar waiting to see outcome. Lots of interesting information and pictures. Spinal Tap was a bit shorter than usual. Not that tall to begin with. Soli Deo Gloria was clean. Small World Fire in the Hole, about 5 inches, likes a new location free from earwigs (it is early blooming). I wonder what people in general think about Small World cultivars. Spirit of Hope is an older Korth. About 5 inches. Sultry Girls had a good year. Not one of the best-performing Davissons otherwise. Sputnik is a tall, earlier Davisson that has performed well. Sinister Variations (a Hanson) should have gone, like Silver Sword, in the last group, I guess. Soft Summer Night is another Stamile pink that is difficult to delete. Supermodel has increased more. It can have nice flowers, though my preference is usually for flatter flowers. Sword of Justice (Emmerich) is quite consistently good. Star of India is an earlier bloomer that is well budded. Soft Play (Hanson) is a shorter plant with flowers of heavy substance. Somewhat similar to Passing Fancy, but superior here. Of course, it's a tet. Solar Fire is a tall Webster than is a big, showy, rather plain flower. The old Stolen Treasure. Performance can be inconsistent, but it can throw beautiful flowrs. Sweetest Name I Know was beautiful in a pot, but in scorched area last summer....See MoreRelated Professionals
