What can one do with a kitchen and a connected family room like this o
Comments (8)Not sure what you men by "open up" the space. If I understand your photos correctly, there is no wall between the 2 rooms. Maybe a quick sketch of the space would be helpful for us. The cabinet fronts are flat in your inspiration pic. If the layout of the space works for you, that could be a less expensive option than replacing the cabinets. Are you looking to change out the flooring and counter top too? It could get pricey in such a large space. What is the ornamentation on the ceiling in your inspiration pic? Not something I have seen before....See MoreWhat should we do with cut out between kitchen and family room?
Comments (11)Hi. Lots of opportunities here! First, if you are doing any renovation, you might consider opening up the kitchen and family room. Short of that, other ideas I would consider are 1) Put a dimmer on the kitchen lights 2) Change the direction (add eyeball lights) for the lights nearest to the family room (if appropriate). 3) Put in smaller bulbs (eg instead of BR40 (large size), you could try BR30 (smaller size) 4) Eliminate the lights nearest to the family room. 2) Change the floor plan of your family room. I would need more information on your kitchen to see if some of my options would work. Need photos of all 4 walls of family room also. Thanks so much!...See MoreFamily room accessories. what do I need? more, less, different?
Comments (6)Pretty rooms and colors. The red looks great as a complement. I suspect you'll get some feedback about moving all the pics from the mantel in favor of a less cluttered look, but if you like them there, that's all that matters. One change I would suggest regards the red apple. It looks very "kitchen -y" to me, like a cookie jar? I'd look for something else red to go there, maybe even just a round red tray. See if there is a place in the kitchen for the apple to bring some red there. If you ever replace the rug by the sectional, if it doesn't interfere with the foot pieces (I don't know what they are called, lol), you might want to get a larger rug...it does look a little undersized there. Maybe one with some of your other colors in it, too? I'd look for a pillow or two (not two the same, but coordinating) with your colors and some red. just some ideas...not sure of what you'd like -all are from Etsy......See MoreClose off dining room from entryway or how to separate open areas
Comments (9)Thank you Flo. My first thought was an Ikea bookshelf, but was concerned about anchoring the shelf to only one wall, that is only on its side, since there was no back wall to anchor to. Also to keep the shelf flush against the wall I would need to remove the baseboard/trim and then anchor to one wall. I did like your idea of slatted room dividers, I have been researching them, but was not sure about how it they would eventually look in my space....See MoreRelated Professionals
