Carding Mill Confusion

I’ve been getting the garden ready for spring, so far its been rather depressing staring at pruned sticks with buds just activating.

All of my bushes have grown since last season except for Carding Mill. I just cant figure this rose out. I moved it last year to the front yard in hopes that more sun would coax it to grow and flower more. I will try to feed it more this year in case thats the problem.

But my two plants which are several years old are really just a few sticks.

Does anyone have this variety in their garden? Are there any tips and tricks for beefing up this variety?

My Carding Mill took a few years to get settled in. It was a grafted plant that I planted quite deep. It went own root after a few years

Here’s a pic of Carding Mill when it was just a couple of years old.

It was one of the few Austins that didn't seem to mind my hot and dry, So CA climate. I'd say give it some more time to settle in. Lisa

My bare root rose garden is fighting that huge rain we've had the last two days and still coming. Seeing these Carding Mill shots from bare root last year give me hope that mine are going to bloom!! Thanks everyone !! It can be so hard to choose . I think I'll get jubilee , there is something so unique about it ! I hope it looks nice near munstead wood .. Eeek. Judy everything does well for you ! Haha Moses thanks for your honest review of it , if I recall smelling it once it had a funny smell to me. I am hoping they'll be blooming at the nursery to be sure but if not I'm sure I'll still be fine ! I can get carding mill in a couple weeks if I still want it . I spent my fun money so now I'm only able to slide a few individual roses past the warden ;) saw this and had to share. Anyone who knows me knows it's true !

I got Darcy and Carding Mill from Wayside. I already have Tess. My Darcy is pinkish red but not the same shade as Tess. Carding mill is def orange peach. They were selling lots of Darcy's toward the end of the sale so perhaps its Darcy? My Tess is own root and huge, 10ft but I keep cutting it back a little but it still grows right back.
