I have an eight foot long mirror, it's probably 3 feet high, never measured. My friend, and countertop guy did our granite. It turned out I didn't have to move my mirror, but he asked if I'd mind. I thought it was glued on and he said nope, just those little clips. Do you have room to raise it? If not, call a mirror shop, I'm sure they'd cut it for you. Or, if it's not glued on, just take it down and put up something else. I enjoy having the giant mirror. It's the best mirror in my house! We put wood molding around it to frame it, so it doesn't look so "builder" and the wood matches my vanity (we stained it) EASY to do!

I love my tall mirrored medicine cabinets - 37 inches tall but didn't think about the need to reach high to wipe/clean. Guess this doesn't need to be done as frequently as the bottom part of the mirror, but still in our next bath remodel, I'm getting cabinets that aren't so tall. I have to get on a step ladder to clean now. As far as the backsplash, I've seen many on houzz.com without a backsplash. I like the look. What about using some vinyl/waterproof wall paper of a neutral pattern? Also, regarding the mirror being installed low, ours got water between the glass and the silver. Takes as much to repair as it did to buy the thing and it was an expensive medicine cabinet. I've learned from the glass people that there is a spray you can use to keep water from working it's way into the silver and messing it up on a frameless mirror. I think I just got a bad cabinet. I suspect most cabinets come already sprayed around the edges but can't hurt to ask.

So far, it looks like it's 4-3 in favor of going all the way around, although possibly not with granite. Here's is a little more info which may make a difference, or maybe not... This is a 37" wide vanity in an L-shaped water closet that we built during our masterbath remodel. The vanity in this picture will only be used for washing our hands after using the toilet. I'm not too concerned about it feeling too closed in/small because of the nature of the room. There is no natural light but we did put in a 10" Solatube in the ceiling. We're keeping the lighting simple with a two light fixture centered above the mirror. In the main bathroom, we have two separate and larger vanities with sconces. Each of these have upper cabinets with a valance and we're planning a 4" granite backsplash that will go between the upper cabinets only. I know that our granite is very busy but, given our limited use of backsplash, we decided to go with granite instead of introducing another type of tile in the room. (Our shower has travertine deco accents which wouldn't be practical or affordable to use as backsplash.) Any further thoughts? Thanks so much!

I love how they used the floor tile for the backsplash here and topped it with the mosaic. The floor tile may have been cut down to fit. Would that work with the materials you've already selected? I would rather see tile than 10" of counter material. It would be okay to leave a gap at the top of the mirror. I assume you're not putting lights over the mirror or I'd center it.
