I don't think the house is in a market where someone's decor choices would make much difference. This market demographic fully redecorates to suit themselves and would only leave something if they liked it.

I always like wallpaper drenching in rooms like this. It reads 70s to me and not in a good way.

When I enlarged the picture, I sort of liked it. It looks like it would work great in an attic room with all the angles. It’s just a bit too much blue for me. I may not have used the blue carpet with it, but it is sort of fun and funky! Personally not me at all, but I do appreciate other designs.

Surpised by the age. Love the color but it is "too much" for me. Of course, part of the issue is likely the carpet, it might be fine for me with a wood floor and the right furniture.

Don't mind the wallpaper as much as the floor - way too much royal blue for me!

I sometimes question the history people declare. In the early 1800s the block printing process was manual. Literally carving a pattern on a wood block, dipping the block into ink and pressing it onto the wallpaper. I am also thinking that the pigments were not nearly that bright - I could be wrong, but I know that paint pigments were not nearly as vivid and bright in the 1800s as they are today and the paper itself yellowed pretty quickly.

I would not use anything this bright and busy in my home.

I would have to see it in person to really know. It feels like a lot, visually - but it is a flat photo. I may feel differently if I could see it in real life.

Actually this paper is made by company which makes only paper reproduced from actual identified samples of the period obtained from historic houses. Often from scraps covered over by renovation. And it is produced however the original was including hand blocking. And they will produce it on rolls glued up from shorter pieces of paper for authentic horizontal seams if it is required for period authenticity. Every order is essentially custom.

And actually the older color analysis of the period is the one which is incorrect. 18th and early 19th century colors were extremely vibrant. The old analysis was more visual and of faded samples.

Victorian colors were - with some exceptions - dirtier because of gas lighting and coal heating.

So look at Monticello and Mount Vernon and the Governor's Palace currently.

Remember houses that could afford fashionable paper and paint colors were often houses where entertainment took place after dark and these rooms would have been candle lit. Dull colors would have all grayed out.

This paper looks more 3-dimensional in real life than this photo, so I am assuming people would like it even less.

It is way too busy for me, especially all over the ceiling. It somehow kinda works in that room, but i couldn’t spend a lot of time in there.

This is another room in that house. This is also Federal Period wallcovering and rug, and yes they would have freely mixed these two patterns together. I find these greens incompatible and perhaps the scale between the carpet and wallcovering too similar, but they are riffing on the age of the house in a contemporary way.

This isn't really about liking or disliking, clearly this is a really intense room, and I think it's too much for a bedroom. And I also don't like unshaded light in a bedroom. But I get the idea of what they are doing.

FWIW, the Victoria & Albert museum has a YouTube channel which features short videos highlighting various items in their collections - many Victorian textiles, clothing, etc., and also much earlier examples too.

This topic reminded me I had a lovely little old wallpaper sample book of Colonial, Early American reproduction designs - it was all real paper too, not vinyl. I used some of it for origami projects among other things. Sadly, it perished in the hurricane flooding last year. I think I still have some of the origami pieces tho - I used them as Christmas ornaments. They were very colorful.
