Windows Design Dilemma

What style of replacement window should I choose?

We are replacing this window (apprx 122” x 60”), and I would love to take the opportunity to add some style and curb appeal and not just replace it ”as is”. I LOVE the look of transoms, but worry that this window is too short to accommodate that look? I’m drawn to the four equal panes with transoms or three equal panes with transoms…

Any advice or help would be amazing!!

To have a proper transom you'd have to remove the header inside your wall that is currently holding up the wall above the ceiling line. If you try to place it below it won't look right.

We need to see the outside of the house.

What does the outside of the house look like? What do the other windows look like? Altering one window risks making the house look partially remodeled.

If the windows are otherwise okay, put a solar control film on them and send the differential check to.... Windows on Washington... Just kidding. But seriously, there is no reason (where you are located) to change to Low-e if the windows are otherwise okay. Put a good 3M solar control film and you are done and done.

Stay with it Keli O, i had some of same issues wanting to make my living room more of what makes me happy and keeping a lot of what I love but using the furniture in a better way. These current and other willing and so very talented people helped me to the utmost, to say the least. I love what has happened to my new living room, still need to make some suggested changes to curtains and accessories, but so more than happy with the outcome. Could not have ever ever been able to make the changes myself, cannot say enough about HOUZZ helpers and patients they had with me. Yea, lol, i was moving and changing and re-arranging night and day, even stood on my head and jumped through a hoop but it was necessary and so worth it, ok I put in my 2 cents....looking good

I'm still mulling over the best window options over here and figured I would simplify my questions to the following four I am still mulling over--keeping in mind I plan to be in my home for decades, so hoping to get a window that lasts! Material--would you recommend vinyl, fiberglass or fibrex for a midwest/broad temperature range climate? Warranty--would a lifetime warranty sway you into an inferior product? Sliders--when it comes to replacing two single-hung windows with sliders--do you think one brand outperforms others in this type of window? Anything to be aware of when choosing sliders over casement...other than the very slight difference in efficiency? Brands--I think I'm down to Window World, Marvin (Essential) or Andersen (100). Which would you choose and why?

as much as I love a big window... Do you need that much window.

Maybe a replacement to enhance the curb appeal.

How about a photo of the front of the house?

IMO there is no space for a transom and why 4 windows to replace 3 nice sized ones and honestly what is wong with the window you have . If it was my house I would want one commercial style window a big as I could get . so I like what you have . We do however need to see the house for the outside that is what will drive this choice .
