New Bed Frame Opinions

last month

Does anyone have an upholstered headboard with a wood frame instead an upholstered one? If so, do you like the look? We have an upholstered headboard currently attached to a metal frame that I occasionally use a bed skirt on. I want to do away with the metal frame and bed skirt, but I don't want an upholstered frame. We have cats who go under the bed and I'm done dealing with cat hair on the skirt, and with an upholstered frame, we could also have scratching. I'm looking at something like this that can be attached to the upholstered headboard. The first one is Pottery Barn and is almost $900 after adding the shipping. For that price, I feel like I should buy a whole new bed. The second one is from Houzz or Home Depot, for about $560, but it looks a little flimsy. There are options from West Elm that I like, but they seem a bit more modern than is our style. Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated!
