Comments (7)live-wire's kitchen a much better! Although I'm not sure what the "stacked W&D" is beside the fridge. Washer and dryer in the kitchen? We have space somewhere else for them. My only changes would be to line the fridge up with that wall, but other than that, I think it's great. I'll be drawing up a new one tonight. live-wire - Thank you very much for everything so far! These kitchen plans weren't done by the architect, they were done mostly by my bf since he's the one that loves to cook. lyfia - I'd like to have as many full sized appliances as possible in the space, but I'm not settled on either at the moment. suburbanrancher - I agree with the flat panel. When I chose that particular dishwasher in the program, it was just one that went easily into the plan (some of their other appliances glitch)....See Moreshould I replace my PB kitchen table with a vintage Stickley?
Comments (15)Thanks all. Val, I was wondering why you sold your drop leaf table? Part of the reason for my post is wondering what the down side of it could be. I did put all three leaves in and the table still seemed solid, although there would have to be some "give" when you add so much to the surface. Probably too much analysis here, but I wonder why they don't make these tables anymore? When you expand them fully, do you give up a lot of stability? Oh, and the leaves were just placed under the table temporarily. They come in a box, and would be stored elsewhere. After reading my own post over again, I guess it sounds obvious that the Stickley table has a lot going for it. Just the concept; "Stickley vs. PB" is really a bit of a no brainer. The biggest reason to keep the PB table (besides cost) would be the solid, sturdy feel that it has. It also has a nice golden pine finish that is kind of a nice contrast with all the cherry I have in the kitchen already. I've got another photo that shows the whole kitchen a little better: The PB table has a chunkier, slightly rustic look that I actually like especially with a lot of the SW art and decor I have. The Stickley looks more refined. Bottom line is, it's got a name going for it, it's solid cherry, more of a "one of a kind" piece, and it wins the versatility award for sure. As far as $$$ goes, net loss for me after selling the PB table would be $850-1000 depending on how lucky I get on CL. For that, I would gain the aforementioned features of the Stickley table plus four additional chairs. I don't really need the chairs as I have 7 of the Windsors already, but they are nice and solid, and again very versatile. So, it's not like a CL find that you have to snap up before someone else does. It's definitely an investment that I need to think through, and I do appreciate your help. Does it still sound like a no-brainer?? Thanks...See MoreNeed some color/finish guidance on my vintage-inspired kitchen!
Comments (11)I got a wonderful 8" black and white matte ceramic tile for my mudroom in a 1914 Greek Revival in Philadelphia. I love it. It's glazed but it looks like it isn't, so nothing stains it. It took me a long time to find it and it wasn't expensive but I can't remember off the top of my head who made it. I had to get it from an obscure supplier but they happily sent me samples. I'll see if I have their info in my construction records. I did see a picture on Gardenweb somewhere of a floor done by someone who cut marmoleum into 8" tiles and installed it on the diagonal. Looked fabulous but that had to be hard work! If you're on a tight budget, VCT can look good and is dirt cheap. It replaced the VAT that came out in the 1930s and wouldn't unauthentic either, but it is harder to maintain than ceramic or marmoleum....See Morecan someone please rip apart my kitchen plan?
Comments (202)Hurray my order is in! I was only left with one door that was out of stock, so they added it on to the giftcard. It was MUCH easier than I was imagining. The guy helping was great. It probably helped that I waited at the door for opening. He walked around with me to view different trimming options and such, and I also got a quote for the quartz. I'll go back on Monday to get that ordered. I went with Grimslov. I was so back and forth I just decided while there and it feels good that I don't need to keep wondering what to choose. There are so many options and in the end they all look nice. Thank you times a zillion for everything!! And Thank you to everyone. This was so eye opening and helpful in so many ways. Now starts prepping for my temporary kitchen, stockpiling the freezer some more and getting ready for demo. Everything will be delivered Thursday the 22nd....See MoreRelated Professionals
