This is what we're hoping to do. It *looks* like it doesn't have a curb. Or maybe it does? The gal at our local flooring/tile company says that it's doable because of the size - a smaller area would need a curb.I don't know..this thing doesn't need to be wheelchair accessible. But I really do like the look of a tiled shower rather than a prefab stall. If it won't be cost prohibitive? The other thing - we're doing a bear theme in this bathroom (we've got bears on our property) and found some *great* bear tiles that we can use as accents in the shower. If we tile it, that is. I did something similar using the Hansgrohe 7" rainhead in my tub shower for my hall bath. I have a Greek tub, so it is only 4 feet long. I use it as a tub/shower and I did not want any glass. We put the rain head in the ceiling in the middle of the space, so it is 24" inches from the end of the tub. The water comes out a little bit on to the step in front of the tub, but not much. So if you did the 15" arm, you should be totally fine. You are right about the rainhead making much less of a mess. If you take a look at my pics under "pics of my new bathrooms" you will see that we have no glass doors or shower curtains in either shower (just a small panel next to the vanity in the master). We were able to do that because of the rain heads.

Okay, there is just a whole lot wrong there, and it is not just the shower pan, thus some of the harsh comments. The tiles do not overlap the pan, providing no mechanism to channel water from the walls into the pan. Water will get through the grout on the walls. It should then travel down a waterproof membrane, into the pan and down the drain. Your installation can't do that. The water will go down the waterproofing (assuming it exists), outside your shower pan and into lower walls and/or your floor. Even if your tile DOES overlap the shower pan, water can still wick out side the pan area, then down the wall, into the floor, because your pan isn't big enough. Simply purchasing a new enclosure to sit on top of the pan will not solve this problem Your existing glass panel doesn't even reach the end of the shower pan, providing an easy avenue for water to reach outside the shower "enclosure. Even if you increase the size of your shower pan to cover the entire area, if the waterproofing wasn't done correctly, you will still have water in your walls. Unless your entire bathroom floor is constructed like a wet area, with waterproofing and a drain mechanism, then this is destined to be a problem no mater what you do with the enclosure. Given all of that, we are back to, "This is beyond stupid." Reality is, you will replace this now for a large fee, OR you will replace this and repair the water damage for a really large fee. Pay now or pay more later - it's as simple as that.

I’m having trouble finding a 32” x 48” shower base that works with a Utile shower surround system — is reasonably priced, and has good reviews. I need a white base with a textured floor surface, 3” threshold depth, and solid (non flex) feel, without requiring a mortar base. Any suggestions based on something you know works? Thank you! Eric
