Better kitchen layout?

Hi,
Looking for advice to see what could be a better layout especially regarding the kitchen which is way too far from living room or music room.
We like the current place of the dining room so we would prefer not to move it.
Considering opening the wall between the kitchen and music room so that the music room could be used as a family room and the kitchen will be linked to it.
However given the configuration of the music room ( not fully aligned to kitchen) wondering if this would work.

An idea is to swap the kitchen and library. Move the powder room to space from the coat closet and the frig space. Expand the sunroom to include the old P.Room space to be available for breakfast duties.

Thank you Dan, will think about that suggestion! We were trying not to make too many changes but indeed if we have the kitchen in the current library room , it will be ideal as the living room adjacent to it is bigger than the music room and has the chimney

Electrolux's induction slide-in range does have two timers; I'm not sure if the "hob timers" you refer to above in your separate cooktop option are different (i.e., meaning, they turn off the hobs), or not. I regularly use at least one timer. If I regret any feature, it would be to have the timers turn off a hob when time's up, rather than just beep helplessly. Not a big deal, this... I'm fine with the burner layout and sizes on my slide-in range, but seldom use more than one or two at a time. Since new pots and pans were selected to fit the various size burners, they fit fine. Power also seems fine, to me. These factors will depend a lot on how you cook. [Not sure if burner arrangement is different in Ellectrolux's other induction range.] Now, burner layout also relates to your hood. You'll want burner(s) producing the most smoke (etc.) centered within the hood's catchment area, so more of its effluent gets captured efficiently. That could be an additional reason to go one way or the other, depending on your hood and how well the smokey-est burner(s) match up with it in your two options.

Also are you ok with having to walk through your bathroom to get to your clothes? Personally and yes, it's a personal decision, I'd rather walk through a hallway with closets on both sides and then enter my bathroom. This way if someone is in the bathroom, I don't have to disturb him if I need an article of clothing. Originally this was reversed, and worked out better since the front window didn't waste any space except to act as a buffer between two vanities. I don't really mind whichever way it lays out, but my better half does. Personally, my sentiments have already been echoed by palimpsest... It's around a bed, not outside to an outhouse. I know that's snarky but really, have we gotten that lazy? Wear Depends to bed then and don't get up :) Someone in the middle of the night will have to constantly walk around the whole bed to get to the bathroom. That would be me. "I am not too keen on the options where the DW opens into the living room." I toyed with putting the DW on the other side of the sink, but then the open DW door will be in the middle of one of the busiest aisles in the home. At least when it's on the Living Room side there's no aisle limit. The DW is on the correct side, or at least it would feel more awkward to the left than right. Attached is probably the best arrangement we've come up with for the laundry/pantry/mudroom area. I'm a little worried that the entry from the mudroom to the kitchen isn't centered on an aisle. At the very least, it frames the window in the background. The pantry took up too much space behind the proposed cleanup area and moving it to the exterior wall gives the garage entry door something to land into. I wasn't able to grab as much real estate as Buehl was proposing, so hopefully the prep area works as shown. Also, we had to loose the bay window off the back of the house, so that eats up a bit of space for the dining room. One more really rough layout that's possible is:

I get the sense that the desire for an island was to be able to prep without facing a wall. Is that correct? And that if he can't have an island, he'll prep on the peninsula but he thinks it's too far from the cook top to be used as prep space? Is that all correct? If so, then perhaps this plan might work: I swapped sink and cook top location, assuming that the window can be moved. If not, we'll figure it out. I eliminated the return on the left wall to give you more room between sink and cook top and some room between cook top and peninsula. I added suggested locations of uppers on the top wall. Ovens moved to same wall as fridge but I didn't bump the counter out to 30". There's cabs and counter between fridge and ovens so that you have a spot to put fridge items down and to avoid door ding issues between ovens and fridge. I also added an 18" deep section, 55 1/2" long, for coffee maker, etc. This puts it near the table without crowding the table aisles. Oops, I forgot to mark cabs for the peninsula. You'd have room for 43" of cabinets, divide it up however you need to (ditto for all other cab sizes). Thoughts?

Here is an option that does a few things: - Keep most of the walls in place (cost savings) - Keep most of the plumbing in place (cost savings) - Keep the better kitchen layout. If you want it bigger you could pull the peninsula out toward the living room and gain more space. I can actually offer a better kitchen layout also that doesn't have the fridge blocking the view from the foyer to the living room. - Great size and bright master closet. - Better placed sink in powder room. - Used some odd foyer space for the laundry. - Can add some bench/lockers in the foyer on the master bedroom wall. Weakness: - Powder room opens to living room - living room may get cramped to fit a dining table. Consider moving powder room to foyer on master bedroom wall. (adds cost but allows for larger master bathroom or use that space for living room built-ins etc.) Enjoy!

those are formal rooms on the left ..or so it appears. I'd leave the kitchen on the right side..it appears the pedestrian entry with groceries etc is on the right. I would plot a couple things on paper and pursue possibilities..... 1. carve a new CL from the top left corner of music room. entrance to Cl will be opposite Up stair position. 2. the current CL becomes part of a new kitchen 3. remove wall between mudroom and breakfast room ......4. enhance the rear entrance from ?driveway? or back patio? with large sliding door or dbl french doors on that rear wall. . 5. with 27 feet in length make a kitchen with your various zones. you can have large island// banquette/ / keeping space......about anything . You can have an enhanced entry/exit to the rear part of the property / now close to the kitchen [do you have a yard] this creates something that is lacking and gives better outdoor entertainment/ recreation options..

how about a nice long kitchen with destination seating and togetherness instead of tiniest breakfast room tucked at the base of a staircase.

Thanks Herbflavor! I like your idea as you ate right that thinking more about this, the kitchen needs to stay on right side, it will be better especially entrance drom the back is ok the right side too with mudroom etc…
I was wondering where to put the closet.. thanks for the idea. I agree that in this case the kitchen will be rectangular, longer but that could still be nice

Also , what would do with the rest of the music room ( outside of the new closet) ? In you idea, it will be part of the kitchen ?
