Actually bathplanet could do complete shower renovations in 1 day with 1 licensed and insured contractor. How do i know? i was that one guy in Nashville Tennesse that could. My name is still on lots of positive reviews on the their website. however for every successful amd happy customer of mine there was a dozen other displeased and lied to clients. While i tried to take time to insure proper installion with quality matariels and workmanship was at the higgest regard. Bathplanet did not necessarily agree or appreciate my level of quality and professionalism. Companies like bathplanet, bath fitters, and McDonalds use undertrained or nontrained greenhorn idiots that have no idea what there doing! More often then not your so called installer is merely a warm body who spends more time on the phone calling the boss for help or getting high out back then a highly trained professional who cares about your satisfaction and longevity of your overpriced peice of printed acrylic. if you want a quailty product from end to finish dont expect a day transformation. While it maybe possiable i guarantee the odds are not in your favor. its been several years since moving on from McBathPlanet 🛀 and even longer since thread was created.. just had vent… End rant!! Rome was not built in a day and neither should your bathroom.

We are preparing to demo our full bath in a couple of weeks. Thankfully we have a finished 3/4 bath in the basement so we can take our time on the remodel. I know what color I would like the bathroom (a medium grayish navy), what style toilet, sliding shower doors and that's just about it. The bathroom is very outdated and has carpet (so gross ) that needs to go. We will be removing the current tub as well and replacing it with an alcove tub. Hubby wants the plastic/fiberglass tub surround walls, I'd like something nicer. Give me ideas please! Because of the plumbing and the window, I just as much assume that we will be leaving the layout alone. I also love the corner shelving and would like to keep something similar to it in the new design. Also storage ideas would be very much appreciated! It's so hard to keep everything put away and out of sight with little to no storage. We do have a linen closet right outside the bathroom, thankfully.

I bought a nice 60" double vanity with marble top from Home Depot and they offered a service to deliver to the room of my choice. It was a very heavy fully assembled vanity and that was well worth the extra money to have two sturdy delivery men carry it up . Home Depot Water Creation Madison 60in Vanity - $1299 I also purchased a nice Toto toilet from Home Depot. In the past I've also purchased them from other online stores or from a local plumbing supply. I would typically prefer to purchase from smaller local plumbing supply but the one in town that supplies Toto sold me a 1.6gpf and then gave me a 1.28gpf. When I complained and asked for the toilet I requested / purchased they lied to me and told me Toto wasn't making them anymore. Home Depot let me purchase online and pick up in local store. And I ended up with the correct toilet. Very easy. Home Depot TOTO Drake Toilet - $263 I would definitely install a new tub rather than considering painting / refinishing an existing tub. I prefer a sturdy cast iron tub, but they are heavy. So that might be another one you'd want to have delivered (if possible). Or you can opt for an acrylic tub which would be much easier to move yourself. Make absolutely certain that whoever is installing tile is properly waterproofing behind the tile. Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own and you don't want to spend the money only to have a disastrous mold problem in a few years. Shop around for tile. Hit up a bunch of local tile stores and get cost per sqft for tile you like. Some tile is incredibly expensive and other tile is very reasonably priced. Just keep yourself to a budget and I'm sure you can design a lovely bathroom and source all the materials yourself.

I think it's a given that high speed bathrooms are going to be used by people who have one bathroom or a pressing need for as speedy a remodel as possible. I have no first hand experience with these companies but they do the job in Los Angeles which is permit city and a bath in about a week was done in a New York City condo - which also would have inspection constraints. Presumably their business model includes being able to precisely time the necessary inspections and be able to start work as soon as the inspector leaves - and I am assuming that these people know how to do things to pass inspection on the first round. I don't think it produces a result that is subpar in terms of quality issues necessarily - except to the extent that as palimpsest posted, you are probably dealing with a nice but not aspirational bathroom since you are choosing from finishes they are supplying - at least in terms of the companies I am familiar with. I had an acquaintance who had her kitchen remodeled by a similar type of kitchen in a week company. Obviously this kind of remodeled kitchen isn't for the kind of people who people houzz forums but for the average person who just wants an updated kitchen, it would be fine. Again, I would suspect that their client base is limited to those for whom prolonged kitchen remodels would really be impossible. For those of us, for example, who live in condos, there is no way to escape the construction - no place to set up an auxiliary kitchen as one can in a larger house - and so the only solution is to move out during the construction as I am forced to do. It's not cheap in terms of paying rent for my crash pad and it's not particularly comfortable to be living with most of one's belongings packed away in storage.
