Oh tile gurus, please help me figure out how much tile to order!
Comments (4)Since none of the pros have piped up with their precise secret formulas, here's how I'd swag it: -Bathroom is about 16' x 10', so order 160 square feet of the floor tile. Yeah, the tile goes a little further than 16' in the toilet room, but I didn't subtract the shower or tub footprint, so those offset it, plus eat up the off cuts. -Shower walls: looks like you've got 2 that are about 5x8 and 2 that are ~2x8 (assume 8 foot ceilings), so that's 112 square feet for them. Not subtracting the area for the accent strip will cover off-cuts. -Shower floor and ceiling: Two ~5x5 spaces, so you need 50 square feet. The square is cut off on the door side, reducing the need, but keep it in to cover off-cuts. -Accent strip: 16" wide x 14 feet of wall length = 19 feet. I'd round up on this. -Deco tiles: You've got 1 every 5.5", over 14 feet, which is 30 tiles. Get a couple extra in case you break one. And on everything, round up the nearest box size....See MoreOh cry me a river, Kate!
Comments (7)Cracks me up. She opened her home? Try she was milking her kids for every penny she could. She lives around here and believe me, we knew all about her before she hit the big time. Now the kids are not cute little babies and toddlers and her one claim to fame and making money is over. After the babies were born she whined on local TV and newspapers about they can't leave the house, not enough this or that and they need a bigger car. She CHOSE to have these babies and wanted us to pay for them....See MoreOh please help me !!
Comments (20)Wow !!! Thank you ALL for the advice/ input !! I removed the border & chair rail on the window wall ...and am contemplating my paint .. I did paint over the lower dark paint with the pumpkin cream just to see the contrast not the color with the oak trim and I can tell you I absolutely despise it. I love the warmth the darker paint brings out of the trim.. so I will likely go with a warm color... I was afraid the room will shrink with that facing wall being dark but find the pronounced oak trim with light shades smacks me in the face, funny thing is that entire wall was supposed to be removed for an addition but the contractor we had consulted with fell off the face of the earth and were in the process of trying to retain another.. lucky for them they're all very busy , so that project will have to wait until after winter : (. so I am attaching the before and after of my counter & backsplash install so you can see the colors im working with , the backsplash was a big project for me .. I have never done one before but I wanted something unique to my taste...BEFORE AFTER...See MoreHelp me design my Colorado condo! I need major assistance!
Comments (17)When you say you are doing a light, natural floor - are you talking about a wood-look light colored floor to cover the whole space? I think that is a good idea, and warm colors are trending again. Pale, washed oak (sometimes cerused) and aged pine are really pretty and there are good options in LVT in these looks. The fireplace - is it wood or gas? Any chance it is super dark due to soot accumulation? I don't know how to clean it, but I bet it is worth a try. Now ... if it is an obviously faux stone that looks like what a 3rd grader made with old clay ... then revamping it is a good idea. I think using the SAME material as the kitchen counters might be too contemporary looking. What about a handmade tile that echoes the backsplash in the kitchen?...See MoreRelated Professionals
