are you suggesting.. that there isnt another white pine in the state of NY???? the simpler question would be.. how far can pollen float in the air in the state of NY to cross pollinate a Pinus strobus ... and with the latin name.. google might work for that answer .... and are you aware.. it might take a decade or so.. for it to cone ... and is there a reason it cant go outside for summer ... once hardened off to sun.. sunlight will grow this thing much faster than indoor light ... and this: The only white pines in the area within pollination diameter where I'm going to plant this is a bunch of spruces spruces wont pollinate a pine ... ever .. i can read.. that you are excited... congrats.. it is really as easy as it was ... good luck ken

i have no clue how to remove such from those peat pots ... there is a conifer forum ... which they are.. i dont know if you will get any better info there.. but there are some peeps in the pest and disease forum.. that have lots of experience.. with all kinds of things ... its the pot itself which is the problem ... you would do it.. when they are large enough to handle ... which is probably not for 6 months or so ... pine seedlings are nearly indestructible .... and can take a lot of abuse ... what i recommend.. is potting it into a quart pot .. even a gallon pot.. and letting them grow ... if there is a plastic or net thing holding the peat together.. see if you can remove that first ... once the roots grow thru it.. it might be hard to remove ... and most important.. is what media you put in the bigger pot.. and i suggest a cactus mix.. trees.. which conifers are ... NEED very high drainage.. and a media that hold a lot of water.. will lead to root death ... and that is why the PEAT is a problem.. it holds too much water i have hundreds of free range pine seedlings all over my drought ridden mineral sand yard .. and they NEVER get watered or anything .. just about the only way to kill them.. in my estimate.. IS WITH TOO MUCH LOVE ....[so do not 'feed' them either] good luck ken

That's great, zone 8 sounds pretty nice! Right now, everything I have is indoors, under lights and in a heated room. :-) Last frost date will be less than two months away. It's way to early to put anything that's actively growing outside around here. Highs only getting into the 50's with mid 30's popping up a day or two in a row. Things don't really grow much in that kind of weather even if no frost at night (it didn't freeze the last couple of nights) and last year when I put new seedlings outside during the day, they went dormant and it took a while to get them going again. So yes you get to know how to judge your particular climate, just thought I'd mention that so the op would consider their area. :-) Even though I'm zone 3, near z4 border, I've learned that z5 isn't all that far ahead of us, maybe a couple of weeks earlier that we are. The main difference is the depth of cold during a somewhat longer winter. Once it gets to this time of year it's not a big of a difference really. :-)

It would be helpful to see pics of the opposite wall with painted white brick and more of the room. Your mirrors & light gray furniture give impression you are craving light. Suggestion: First, clean the paneling well & paint out or replace the fireplace insert black to match other accessories & make it less prominent. Then, decide if the paneling is too dark or wrong color to work with furniture + rest of the house & same with brick. It seems like remaining decisions, e.g. paint paneling or replace with drywall, paint brick or reface, add mantle, add bookshelves, etc. will depend on your budget.
