Looking for ideas for paint color or wallpaper
Looking for ideas on what to paint or wallpaper this bathroom. Willing to change light fixture and new design above toilet whether be shelves, photo, etc. Mirror will stay as is.
Played around with an online tool to look at wallpaper but not sure that any work?

A new light and some lovely towels will help create a more lux feel. Suggest adding a framed print for an injection of color vs wallpaper.

Comments (24)I just realized I posted a photo of the "vines" stencil above and then lazygardens posted a link to it. While I'm stilling waiting for 2 more wallpaper stencils I'm leaning toward the "vines" stencil. So you think it would work? I looked at the claires willow pattern today and it is just too tiny of a pattern to make a stencil from and don't have enough of a pattern of the willow to make a decent sized stencil. On the copyright thread a link was posted to a book with william morris design stencils in it. I spent time search for more info on it but can't confirm willow is actually one of the stencil. It also appears the stencils are small. If this was a small project I would maybe buy it. Gina, when we bought this house over 25 years ago there was wallpaper everywhere. Some my DH stripped off. Some was hard to do, so he just put drywall over it. So this dining room has a double layer of drywall with wallpaper inbetween. He really wants me to stencil. I'm very tired of thinking about this but want to make a decision soon to move the remodel along. Comments (5)Karen: which technique are you doing? Textured wallpaper over old wallpaper? Or one of the others? Rereading my post (after getting some sleep) it reads more like I am asking about texturing with drywall compound (like imitating venetian plaster, or a tuscan stucco look). PLEASE come back and tell me how it went! I have seen the paper bag technique done on home improvement shows. ItÂs actually simpler. Dipping in poly would be very messy and sticky. You adhere the paper with latex glaze or acrylic matte medium. Then cover with the same clear liquid to seal it in before painting. My hesitation with doing that is if someday down the road you didnÂt want such a texture, you could NEVER get it off. The entire room would have to be skimcoated by someone with the skills to get it really flat and smooth. I donÂt think I want to go that route. Comments (5)It is much easier to choose paint last because there are an infinite number of paint colours,but not so with bedding and drapes. Also, the bed 'top', because it is so large & prominent, sets the tone and mood for the rest of the room. Usually more so than the wallpaper! Comments (45)@DIS thanks for the photos. Silverponte does turn a bit green in the space as u mentioned. I am open for ideas. This is actually going to be the family room instead of the living room because there is not another family room space. Because there is so much natural light I was even thinking of a more opaque color like a bluish/gray. My sofa is a light light gray herringbone, will probably get a new rug and coffee table. My current accessories are a lot of navy/white and silver. I have a dark wooden bar that will go somewhere and sadly, I don’t think the piano is staying (but really praying she will not give it to her son 😉) so I can really do whatever works with the colors off the foyer. This room opens to the kitchen, dining and sitting space which will likely be a neutral beige, due to the maple wood kitchen cabinets and granite. What color are these navy walls? I might love that for an accent color in the kitchen dining sitting combo room (the back window wall which will be the sitting room). last monthI’m in the wallpaper camp. A beautiful wallpaper and matching shower curtain will override any other flaws in the room. Spoonflower will do many designs in both. Here are three I found. Working greys and pinks sounds good to me!

If you want paint, then go dark and dramatic. Black or charcoal gray would work great.

last monthI would go for simplicity as much as possible. Can you find a basket to fit the funny shelf above the white door? That would simplify that space. And if you could raise the shower curtain rod to the ceiling….it is possible to find extra long shower curtains on the rainforest site, I know you said the mirror is staying, and I know how surprisingly expensive they can be, but a taller mirror that goes down closer to the vanity would look really nice. It would break up the racing stripe in the tile. A nice big black and white photo for art over the toilet.
