Need help pulling living room together
Comments (17)Fantastic clock! I agree w/ grandmaof3 - add a throw to your sofa. I politely throw in my suggestion about using 2 spa blue (or close to your chair color) throw pillows to your sofa in addition to 2 patterened throw pillows that contain the spa blue like that middle fabric that you posted. I think that adding blue to the sofa will actually 'tone down', 'incorporate' and 'lessen' the impact of the red and here's why: it's pulling the color from the presence of the chairs and thereby balancing the room. You have the solid spa blue to pull that color directly across, the addition of pattern that incorporates a reddish color to now blend the 2 colors together. I would layer the solid blue in the corners of the sofa then add the patterned pillow next working inwards. If you could stand 1 more pillow just for 'show' maybe add a small lumbar or boudoir sized pillow right in the middle. Great place - have fun!...See MorePulling the Living Room Together, Ideas please...
Comments (20)Update: We removed the round table/chairs. It helps much with making the room entry friendly instead of a "gated" feeling. The pianist in the family loves the piano where it is, and it makes us less anxious that it might be in the wrong place with the table removed. Here's some photos now of the edit. I would like any suggestions of what goes on that small wall between the slider and window now. We were thinking a small console type table as a landing spot, but thought of one cozy chair too, I just don't know. Maybe just a large art piece on the wall and leave the floor area open? Thanks so much Susan and Lindsey for checking back and your suggestions! Lindsey, I think you're right about "browning" up the stair skirt and carpet so it kind of disappears, and I did paint the interior walls of it off white because the previous owner had a darker color on the walls and it felt cave like. I'm thinking of finding a berber that comes in different colors and going with a lighter one for the area rug (with binding) and the same rug but darker for the stairs. (yeah! your suggestion!)...See MoreHelp with pulling living room together

Comments (11)It's a very pretty space - i don't think you need much help. If it were me, maybe take a few items off the shelves - they look crowded. Remove the faux greenery up top (I assume they're fake b/c getting up there to water would be hard). Remove the ottoman. Add some blue pillows to the sofa and curtains: a black rod and something light & flowy. If you could fit 2 chairs next to each other that might look nice - but I'm not sure you have the space....See MoreRelated Professionals
