Wood floor, counters and cabinets. Too much wood?
Comments (8)I think it MAY be a lot of wood, but it also could be very pretty. One little concern I had though. You mentioned that this was a "green" remodel. I don't know if you are aware of it, but not all Tigerwood is harvested in an environmentally friendly way. It is from Brazil, and much of it is stripped from the rain forests. Attached is a link that explains more about it and how you can insure that the wood you are buying was not taken from old-growth rain forests. Tigerwood is being farmed for harvest, but it is second-growth and not old-growth. Some companies are responsible, but unfortunatly most are not. Please don't take this as criticism because that is really not how I meant it. I just wanted to inform you, in case you didn't know. Tigerwood is not usually a very green product. Comments (10)It's too late to paint (at least for the stuff already installed). Wood must be painted on all 6 sides, otherwise it will cup badly with changes in humidity (the unpainted side will absorb moisture much more easily that the painted side). This will be worse with the wide boards you are using....See MoreToo Much Wood! Design help needed!

[Ours had done same with garbage disposal elec. to use for undercabinet light]. Creative joy. So you could re-purpose part of current peninsula base [or not], and add great solid counter [not movement/pattern like rest of kitchen]......See MoreToo much wood work to paint!
Comments (5)A relative had an 1880's house, ok, a 3 story summer mansion, really! he chestnut woodwork was black from decades of wax, dirt, and neglect. We started with the mildest soap and water. Finally, the most effective was straight 5 PCT ammonia and many, many terrycloth towel scraps. It was very effective and made the wood dry, little surface oil. Later the wood was oiled. Glowed....See MoreRelated Professionals
