Help! What should I do with this space?
Comments (14)OK, you could use the 'dining room' as your family's eating area, and use the 'breakfast room' as...something else? What would benefit from having all those nice windows that are in the 'breakfast room'? Laundry? Crafts? Mom's Desk? My 'back hall' is between kitchen and garage. It contains laundry, cabinets, a powder room, and a big closet. (Could you put a powder room where the plan has 'laundry'? It's really convenient to have a 'facility' near the family entrance.)...See MoreWhat should I do with this small space?

It would be a nice reading spot--rather than building in a bookcase you could do shallow wall mounted book racks (Ikea carries them). As he grows older it would make a nice desk/study area. And kids always love little nooks and crannies to play in, so a little bookcase could hold his favorite toys. I would consider having a wall mounted fixture wired now, though, as you need lighting for reading/studying. Love your windows!...See MoreWhat should i do with this space?

Put a big comfy chair, small table, lamp, and read a book or drink coffee/nightcap there. Maybe use it as a dressing area or makeup area with those great windows. Recliner and small tv and mini fridge to watch tv after hours. Game table for your nightly battle of scrabble. Lots of options!...See MoreWhat should I do with the empty space under the window?
Comments (3)Are you talking the wall space or just the slanted ledge? It's a basement so I would get rid of the curtains and replace with roller shades mounted above the windows...See MoreRelated Professionals
