Desperately need help with our living room layout!
Comments (6)I'd put the TV catty corner in the corner where there is only one window, and put the large sofa in the center of the room, facing the fireplace. Get a console table to put behind the sofa so that it looks finished when you walk into that area. You can put knickknacks on it, a lamp if you can figure out how to get it plugged in, etc. Then the love seat pulled out from the wall where the TV is now and centered between the end of the arm of the sofa and the FP. Or, even better, move the love seat somewhere else in the house and get two chairs (with ottomans? for one only?) and put them side by side in that area with a small table between them. So you've created an L-shaped seating area for conversation and TV watching that is its own space, so to speak. Coffee table yes. But because you've got wall-to-wall in there, I'd get a SMALL rug to put under the coffee table only, a rug that extends beyond the coffee table by 2 or 3 inches. Area rugs don't look good on wall-to-wall carpeting, esp. carpeting with some pile to it, as yours appears to have, as it gets lumpy from people walking on it....See MorePlease help tweak our living room
Comments (39)Ahh, it looks better with the jungle, hee, hee. I wonder if the plants would help the giant picture window feel less off kilter. (All the windows and doors in this room seem so weirdly placed to me and mess with my strong desire for symmetry!) The only problem I can see with the metal table is that we'd be tempted to put stuff on it that could then slide onto the heater. You'd think we were allergic to clutter free horizontal surfaces. :-/ But who knows, maybe the just-right piece will pop up to put in that sliver of space. I can see how it would help keep the couch from the heater. Thanks Kippy! Yes, I was trying to keep the piano separated from the spot where some of the kids do school. My DMIL comes to the house to give piano lessons every few weeks (bless her heart!) and the piano lessons going on while they're trying to do their schoolwork is very distracting, besides the day-to-day playing....See MoreLiving room layout help, please...
Comments (2)Hi Lucy, I'm Poorvi. I've generated a mock-up of your room. I tried my best to keep Serena&Lily in mind while designing the layout for you. I didn't want to block those beautiful large windows, hence gave a floating seating arrangement. Place the couch a walking distance away from the window facing the fireplace. Make sure you have enough space for movement. I have placed two sofas in an L shape and two chairs facing the sofa, thus creating a cozy conversation space. To achieve symmetry I placed two storage units on either side of the fireplace. You could also use low storage consoles to achieve a similar look. Let me know if this was of help to you. I would love to get your feedback....See MorePlease help me with furniture layout in our living room
Comments (30)In my opinion you could go neutral sofa, neutral lounge chair, and green or patterned accent chairs. Would you want a pattern on your accent chairs? Or would you like to keep pattern to the rug and curtains and accessories? Another thing to think about is armrests versus no armrests...I think no armrest would look cleaner for the accent chairs, but I don’t think they would be super comfortable. Here are some options...See MoreRelated Professionals
