I feel guilty, because it always goes the same way. I have a bunch of plants, they end up squished together under the lights, their branches get all tangled together and rip off, and the plants don't get an optimal amount of light. Later in the season, I get overwhelmed about watering all those plants, and they don't produce as well as they would have if I watered. Then I tell myself "why did you do this again?? You would be much happier if you had a few healthy plants!". I know that too many germinating is the beginning of a vicious cycle, so yes, I feel guilty in advance when too many sprout!

What's this "we" stuff, Kemo Sabe? There is plenty of room in my woods for more plain green hostas. I'm not gonna register any of them, name them (I don't name my mayapples or any of my other wildflowers), and that's what they would be. Ground cover, background, etc. I'm not likely to have a thousand babies, and I really don't have any goals. Other than the serendipitous pleasure of getting an occasional something different that is fun to watch growing to see what it's going to turn out to be when it grows up. Goals are for you serious hosta growers, lol! You set 'em, grow 'em, register 'em, market 'em. I'll be there to buy 'em! Meanwhile, my green seedling babies will be growing up right along side them. And if I get more than I want, well, I know a lot of people who would like to have them!

Skycopp, When I grow peppers, I usually let them grow at least 1 foot, to prevent the fertilizer burn the new born plant. I start fertilizing just before transplanting outside to prevent "too much" stress all at once. Since the plant will only start yielding peppers until transplant, there is really not much point of fertilizing before. Thats how I do it, and I bet others do it differently but has always worked for me. Ask away if u got more questions. :)

I keep mine on a south facing window sill,I dont like to keep them outside due to bugs getting to them. I keep my soil moist but not wet.Browning leaves could mean improper watering. Others will post more info for you. Good luck,they are a neat plant. Christine
