furniture in front of wall of mirrors in 1960 condo

last month

I have recently inherited my mother's condo in south Florida. I am furnishing it with a mix of her (my childhood memory) pieces and some new pieces. I am particulilar partial to this secretary/china cabinet but only have one wall for it...along the mirrored dining room wall. I am thinking of painting the secretary. I am not a huge fan of the mirror wall because I feel it really dates the condo, but the mirror does serve a great purpose in reflecting the palm trees and intracoastal waterway on the opposit window. The cabinet seems like it is a total block of the mirror, perhaps it would look better on a wall of paint or wallpaper? I have no idea as to how to pull this all together.I have my mom's mahongany pedestal table but no chairs, so I could start over with new table and chairs or just chairs to pull it all together. The photo of the adjoining living area is what I have assembled to date, which is a mixture of painting some of her tables and adding new seating, but definately a more casual, soft pale blues, greys and ivory. Thoughts for this great community?
