kitchen Island Paint color and Bar area.

Hi! I am planning to paint my kitchen Island to add more contrast/interest and warmth. Thinking of using Iron Ore from Sherwin Williams. Would love some advice on whether or not I should also paint the lower cabinets of my coffee/bar centre the same color? Any ideas welcomed! Thank you.

IMO add some colored stools before painting that island and why that color if warmth is the plan dark grety is not a wrm color usually I aslo would not break up the lower cabinets with a different color for the bar .Get nicer lighting not so yellow I like LED 4000K but 3500K will work in there . I like the kitchen as it is I do not think it needs another dark element but some color could work Even just a vase filled with bright colored flowers would be great .

Our kitchens and reasoning aren't the same, but I have 3 different door styles in my kitchen. I have one on most of the perimeter, but in 2 different colors, most natural fir and one wall of burgundy. I have another door style on the cream painted island, and the 3rd is in the stove area, which are painted gray. They are all a variation on Shaker, so go together in that way, but have enough difference (for me) to create the partly unfitted look I wanted. Thank you! yes we removed the cabinets the first few days we were in - made a huge difference! The plan is to clean that up a bit for sure. Given who we are, however, that may take a while :) I’ll give the white some more consideration - just really don’t want to paint it more times than necessary.

But what color white are your cabinets? Balancing different whites next to each other is tricky. You could consider the cabinet color for the wall paint in the Dinette for a seamless look. Or just use the Harbor Haze there.

I think the color you have works fine, but, you need more and brighter accessories. Your blue accessories, are just not the right color of blue, to take away the boring look. The shelf above the doorway, has all white on it, and that also causes a bit of the boring look. Its a nice kitchen. I cant see if you have room for artwork, but, colorful area rug or runner on the floor in the kitchen. A bowl of colorful fruit or flowers on the peninsuala. Colorful towels, etc. Maybe not just one color, but, some other colors in with the blue you already have. Not saying you need to choose pioneer woman, but, take a look at some of the colors she has together. You may just find something exactly right, to give you a happy welcoming kitchen.

I agree, I wouldn't paint any of the cabinets. Not sure what area you're calling the bar - looks like a kosher kitchen?

Anyway, maybe change the backsplash to something warmer - blue or green? And get undercabinet lighting if you don't have it. Colorful stools like Patricia suggested would also be good.

Eta NM I see that its' a beverage fridge, not a dishwasher, so I get where the bar is now. Better lighting would help! :)

You have a really beautiful kitchen. I would not paint any cabinets. If you're itching for a change and want warmth, you could swap out the backsplash, change the pendants, and get different stools. Swapping the hardware to brass would add warmth too. Your countertops are gorgeous!

Thanks so much for all your advice and comments. At this time changing the backsplash is not an option but I do like the idea of changing the stools and pendants. If I add brass which I do like would it still be okay with the Grey backsplash? Thank you!

Yes, brass + gray is nice. Here's a mockup with brass hardware. Do you have under cabinet lighting? You could also place a small lamp on your countertop.

Changing other elements like the shades, bar stools and pendants could work to bring warmth to the kitchen; but painting the cabinets can also work. The bar stools could be lighter if you go with Iron Ore, that way they wouldn't blend in.

Keep in mind that dark colors absorb light; I don't see the bar on the photos, but if it is in a darker corner it might feel enclosed.

Thank you. There is a photo at the top of the feed. Want to look at all options. If I were to just paint the kitchen Island Iron ore and not the Bar area do you think that would work? I won’t be able to change the bar stools right away due to expense.
