Remodeling Design Dilemma Kitchens

Help with kitchen wall

Need suggestions on what I can add to the wall above and to the right of the range. I've thought about adding a pot rack above the range, one that fastens to the wall. We have already removed the wallpaper, refinished walls and painted them a light gray. Backspash has also been updated . Cabinets are in process of being painted white and will add new hardware. Any ideas appreciated.

***Update: Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've decided to install a vent.

You need a vent hood over the range. That will take up much of the space…and save your lungs from the gas and cooking effluents.

Yes, a vent hood, I'd add uppers to fill shelves, if you cant match. A pot rack is outdated

Thank you JudyG Designs! Thank you for the advice... but it’s 2 different colors right now. Cameo yellow is on the sides of the window. I have been thinking of using that color there. I painted the sides just to test it out. Yellow is also above the window on the upper lip.

Thanks for the feedback. We are thinking Neutral. We had the kitchen wall painted BM White Dove OC-17, but it just doesn't goes well with the knockdown finish,.and with the BM Pearl Harbor in the background the kitchen wall looks unfinished. Could you suggest a neutral that would flow with the BM Pearl harbor, that also goes with the granite (bedrosian colonial cream) and glass tile.

Sorry i put the same photo twice - I edited it to fix. I guess I could try to help with the color:) The color you have is not bad. You could go with a cream or white to relate to the grout on the backsplash. Warm wood tones look best with white, cream, creamy beige, green - especially sage and some blues. The light, natural tone of your cabinets makes light gray a possibility too. I am unsure of how a color will relate to the backsplash. I suppose it could be like the wall color relates now - not bad, but not actually relating either. I am not a dark wall person, but one can get dramatic with some black. This kitchen gets away with it by including a lot of white - notice the white backsplash, wainscot and island. Since your backsplash is dark, you would need to look for other areas to add the white if you wanted this type of color scheme:

A hood vented to the outside is what you need on that wall and soon with a gas range .I do not see the point in painting the cabinets but now it is begun finish it but that kitchen needs serious work to really be functional and safe Is that window looking into the room next to it or outside ? I assume no money for a new kitchen but that vent hood is a must .

You need to show all four sides of the kitchen. Pros look at the "big picture" of the entire room. Show us the new wall color and new countertops.

State right at the beginning what the room will be used for and who will use it. State the non-negotiables at the beginning, what has to be kept. Give some idea of the budget. And provide approximate measurements

Keep in mind that you're inviting some design pros and people with a design eye into your home via photos. If they walked into your actual space, they would take in all of it: all four sides, doorways, floors, windows, ceiling, built-in fixtures, lighting, trim--the "givens"--then the features that can be changed--furnishings, paint, art, rugs, decor items, etc. It's all one first impression. Same thing with photos. That's why it's important to provide well lit photos of the entire space, taken from all sides of a room regardless of the size of your problem.
