Color scheme for living, dining, and entry?

Hi. Happy to provide more information if needed but I am attaching colors that make be very happy (except for that churlish green - I like green just not that one). The color that’s not there (selfishly) is a shade of brown - husband’s choice - I’m not a fan but willing to consider. The only furniture I will reuse are two honey colored mustache back leather chairs and an off white sofa. Oh - and a mora clock. I like cozy, warm, enveloping colors. Not a fan of grays or beiges. Any idea re walls, the dining room cabinets, inside and out? I recognize light plays a factor (rooms face south and west) - but wanted to get a general idea.

I need to see your spacesand the chairs you are keeping IMO wall color after all the other choices are made not before . Show us those things tyou are keeping and the spaces that is how you get help here. Post in jpeg foramt not phone shots , in comments DO NOT start another post

COATS: I see on the floor plan that there is a closet in the office(?) If so, you could put a door in from the living room/dining room side and have that be your coat closet. Then you could get a shoe cabinet like this one https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-shoe-cabinet-with-2-compartments-dark-gray-stained-20381763/ from IKEA to have by the front door. Otherwise I’d look at getting a hall tree/cabinet like the previous poster mentioned. Floor plan: see pics. If it works to put the door in for coats then put the dining hutch on the wall opposite the dining table. And possibly a couple of display cabinets to go behind the table. If not, put the hutch behind the table and put the hall tree wall opposite the dining table. Recessed lights: I laughed that you laughed about recessed lighting. They are extremely common in US no matter what the style. I love the ones you found and would definitely go in that direction. Floor: Love the floor. Would have area rugs to define living and dining or at least the living space. Bay Window: would need to see a picture. I think there may be some other options. I would be nice to be able to accentuate it. (See pic) Interior Design: I like where you are headed. Crown Molding: YES. Just do a little research on how wide. You don’t want to skimp. It will make your ceiling feel taller. I would paint it white like the baseboards.

Im a bit confused when you say the tv is just a digital photo frame but you have dedicated it to be the focal point. I would get rid of that black ikea looking entertainment center. move to something much more low profile so its not taking all the attention. Also have you considered updating the lighting? Adding a larger more interesting rug. In the entry my first thought is to update the light fixture, add a console table and a long runner. In the dining room, I would again change out that light fixture, remove the mirror for more interesting art, hung lower and centered to the table. Remove the curtains that lead to the kitchen.

Mini-this is concept and I tried to estimate dimensions but those need to be verified of course. I took the tufted sofa and turned it and moved it into living room space. I took your lucite entry table and used it as a sofa table behind the tufted sofa. This allows a spot for a lamp for needed additional layer of lighting. Then I put the antique settee with it’s back to lucite sofa table. I swapped the two coffee tables and this helps harmonize the look of modern and traditional. Plus the sizing looks like it would work better too. The two accent chairs create rest of seating area. The long wall would get the art gallery wall or a new large piece of art. I also added a large shade floor lamp to this area to create interest and sone height in the grouping. I put a green plant, possibly a Fiddle Fig in right corner for some greenery. Once we settle on furniture locations, then we can tackle art, lamps, rugs and accessories. A zebra rug under the lucite coffee table would draw the eye to this grouping and create interest with irregular shape. And inject some fun. You could use another floor lamp in area to left of window on the main living room. This would add height and ambient lighting at night. Thoughts?

I would have preferred the landlord would have at least provided blinds or curtains so that we could move And get settled first and not have to focus on the urgency of getting blinds so the entire neighborhood is looking in your house on a corner lot and spending hundreds of dollars after we just gave them all our money. It would have been nice to have had time to pick the stuff you want after got a feel of place after a few weeks 🤷🏾‍♂️

Although non of these options appeal to me. You have tasked us with selections.

I wouldn't paint every room the same color, but I would paint the living room (with all the windows) VARDO. Everything, walls and trim the same color drench. my choice for the hall would be the Wimborne White, at least the stairwell wall... nice stairway! (without the carpet)

It's really a personal decision, do what makes you happy.

Could you clarify that the colors you’ve posted are ideas for wall colors? I’m thinking you may mean that you want to come up with a whole house color scheme with these colors as a reference. As Patricia Cowell Consulting mentioned, the time to select wall colors is after you’ve made the more expensive purchases of furniture and rugs.

Do you have any inspiration photos that convey your style?

Looks like a great house- 1920’s colonial revival, or earlier? I agree with the others, it’s great you like these colors but where are you using them? Re your husband, brown comes from the floor and furnishings…

Thanks Everyone. Yes - ffpalms - although that blue may be too gray for me. I’m not sure why when i try to post additional photos, Houzz only gives me access to “recent” photos - the ones I posted above?? Will keep trying.

For now you need to position the largest piece of furniture. Looks like it is the piano and it isn't in the best location. Pianos are not meant to be in front of windows, but if you added draperies to draw at night (for cold) and daytime (when the sun in shining into the window), then I, as said by @aelem, would start with a rug first. The piano should not be place on a rug. What if you put it in what looks like a bay window area?

Remove the corner china cabinet. It may be part of the original build, but doesn't fit into your present life style.

There is so much light in the room, go with the Hague blue.

Sorry! I should’ve been clearer. Nothing you see in those photos are staying. All prior owners. I was thinking I could “non-traditionalize” (yes - I just made that up!) that cabinet. Something like this or not? Wouldn’t have to be these exact colors though.

and you are attempting to do what will take a ten thousand post thread of varying tastes, ideas ...............and three years to end as lost as you are now.

...............IF!!!

YOU CAN AFFORD to worry on the entire home now? You can afford an interior designer. One who will be on your site, One who will consider what furniture can be repurposed to new places, what can be recovered, ( or NOT )

ONE who will get you flow, appropriate sizes, rugs, paint all of it.

Paint is NOT a first action in any room, unless you know the rest of the room.

There's your best advice.

( and a piano can sit on a rug.......)

and you are far down a road from this.....

Yep - very maximalist. I know I like these colors above but can also be fine with more neutral wall colors and as advised above let the rug and big furniture guide the direction. My only true keepers for now…
