Nice looking light fixture. Most of the ones I've seen that style, had the ORB and were really antique. It was a style popular in Mobile years ago. I personally like the metal, which must be polished nickel or chrome? And nothing dinky and small about it either. I drive through Newbergh NY on my way north from Alabama to Massachusetts. That is where I cross the Hudson River.

I apologize for taking this thread OT, so I will just answer Terri's questions, and then we can get back on topic. Terri - I have had the sink for 6 years, and it has held up beautifully. Of course, it has the "patina" of stainless steel scratches, but that is the nature of stainless steel. The 14 gauge stainless makes the sink feel solid, and it is very quiet. I also really love that I have the drain offset in the corner in the exact location I specified. Once you have an offset drain, you never want a center drain again. Regarding Silgranit, I have posted before that I would have liked a Silgranit sink, cause I find stainless steel's water spots and dull film annoying. That is the nature of stainless, and has nothing to do with whether the sink is custom-made or not. However, I needed a custom size sink, and could not get that in Silgranit. You mentioned you want an apron-front sink (love them!), but there are no apron-front Silgranit sinks. Also, I worked with Handcrafted Metal, Inc. in Texas all long distance by phone and email, and they were great.

Thanks Breezygirl. I should have checked before I posted but I was just very interested in knowing. I love buying American but I am also realistic enough to know that it isn't always possible. So no need for anyone to feel guilty when buying from other countries. I do have to admit that made in China is something I want to avoid as much as possible. They already own us, pretty much lock, stock, and barrel and I don't want to give anymore of my dollars to China than I have to. Good job NYC! What I am not re-using from my reno will be either donated to Habitat or sold on craigs list so it will be mostly recycled.

If budget is an issue, check out Habitat for Humanity Re-Stores and other salvage companies in your area. We have found some amazing stuff in like-new condition at those places. Particularly in the stores located near wealthier areas. It is definitely worth it to travel a bit to check the out. Even if you have to rent a small trailer or van to transport the items home, the savings could be totally worth the effort.
