Take some pictures of your favorite people and places, get some nice frames and stick them on the wall. They'll be cheap enough you can get rid of them later .

I think thta large wall need a more horizontal pice of art even a typtych could work the try the vertical ones on the dog bowl side . Get a proper floor lamp if you want thta chair for reading .I would look for another night table and place thta table with the books beside the chair

Bedrooms are not difficult but you can't do nothing. Get yourself a few photos of bedrooms you like and use one as inspiration.

agree ^ your room looks like you used the furniture left over from decorating other rooms. You beside tables do not have to match, but should compliment. One is too large, compared to other. Do you have other pieces in the house you can try?

For optimal comfort you may wish to use bedside nightstands on each side that are the same height as the mattress top.

I feel art placed above a headboard is underutilized,not visible while you lounge in bed and a hazardous in earthquake regions.

You did mention you don't want a House Beautiful style for your bedroom but why not? Here's what you can do will all of your existing furniture except for a narrow console table and perhaps an matching nightstand (if you don't already have one), and perhaps new lamps and bedding..

Two matching nightstands flanking the bed, I moved the desk on the wall on the right with the dog bed & cage in the corner, and on the opposite wall the armchair next to a console table with family pictures above.

I'm also showing natural fibre roman shades on the windows and you can pick art that you like for 3 identical frames above the headboard and another for above the desk.

I move furniture around periodically to change it up—for variety so the glass table (which, yes Lyn Nielsen:-)is a holdover from my single life in 1980-86) has been on both of the other walls with art above. The club chair (from our previous house in 1988, but reupholstered) was in the other corner but my husband uses whatever chair is there as a clothes horse :-( and now that the club chair is clear we do use it for reading and using IPads while charging them. Dresser is staying where it it—makes the most sense since the TV (which we don’t watch but might someday) is above it.

I know the nightstand and uneven lamps (intended for use elsewhere but didn’t work) are not right but also go back to 1980’s. I currently have the quilt reversed …again to change things up. The other side of the quilt incorporates more of the wall color. Yes, I have ignored the bedroom for the most part. No surprise. Have spent a lot of money on other areas of the house. So I will take comments to heart…get brave enough to get drapes (had shears but left them down after painting), I have been looking at bedside tables and nightstands….so will commit to replacing this year. I will move ore replace the long glass console and move it near the club chair and try the two paintings above there but probably mount on dog bed side. I think it will look good given the neighboring window. Then I will look for a horizontal piece on the wall with the club chair. I really appreciate the inputs!

P.S. I really did like club chair in the two windowed corner except for DH using it for clothes.

Use the llttle end table as a night table. Use the glass table on the wall with the club chair as mentioned, and with one piece of art over it. The other piece of art would go on the opposite wall where the crate is.

I think your matched set of artwork on each side of the room will really make the space.

Agree that addressing the windows will help a ton - i like @lisedv rendering with the woven shades. I also think buying new lamps that are larger and more to scale with the furniture will also be a huge upgrade - If it were me, I would clean up the room’s details before adding to the walls

Many years ago I purchased a coat tree for the corner of the bedroom since my husband always draped clothes over any surface available despite having closet hooks. The one I chose from Target was a wood finish that worked with our furniture. A wrought iron one would compliment your headboard nicely.

Oh wow! I just saw lisedv’s rendering. Very cool! And I was just thinking (after someone suggested putting wooden chair under the glass table that I should replace that with an actual glass desk—and you put one in your rending! It’s a sign. I also have woven shades in kitchen and never thought to put them in the bedroom—and I like it!. Does it matter that I have Pella blinds between the glass panes?

I thought of a clothes valet, coat/shoe rack etc for your husband but it's just more furniture and visual clutter. So why not just get a better chair for that corner? An upholstered one will hold clothes easier actually. It's a bedroom, not an unusual habit to toss clothing.

This gray seems to go with your wall color and seems the right size. I'm not sure what your overall color scheme is.

That first one helps a lot and the single side drape is really beneficial because I was wondering about having light switches being behind a drape—lots of hands on the drape at that point. And the big art balanced with the small one over the chair along side the tall plant. Love this direction….
