Dining room help!!!
Hello i am currently adding a chair rail for some dinension in my dining room. i am repainting the room as well and bought a gallon of Olive Grove by SW. i love greens but im seconding guessing my choice. i have a big white accent side table. adding a candle light chandelier and keeing the baseboards white. painting the chair rail and walls same color.
**to be clear im painting the whole room and installing chair rail on all the walls. the curtains will not stay tied up thats just for painting. i was going to start painting what i could but then second guessed ny color all while waiting for my wood to be delivered to finish installing.

Comments (5)Light Silver Sage belongs to the Blue-Green hue family. Technically a complementary color would be a color directly across from BG (blue-Green) on the color wheel. In Light Silver Sage's case that's the 'warm' side of the Red hue family. For example. want something more saturated and brighte. Everything I look at is to blue or green. Depends on what you mean by more saturated and brighter - because that statement kind of contradicts "too blue or green". Let me explain why I'm asking. Saturated usually means more Chroma, colorfulness. So more saturated is saying you want something bolder, more colorful and not as neutral as Light Silver Sage. Yes the drapes are tied for painting.i posted the light i bought it has not been installed yet. i did have a sample and moved it for 24 hours. wondering if the tan is throwing it off.

What I don't understand is why the chair rail is only on one wall + the window wall? and you're only painting the walls with the chair rail? In this room I would paint all walls the same colour and if you're going for a chair rail I would install on all walls. If you paint it the same green as the walls as Patricia said it will disappear. You can install moulding under the chair rail and paint the bottom part in white.

last monthlast modified: last monthI think you are on the right track using a darker green tone...you have just pick a couple which don't work...good thing you stopped. As said here, get a sample of my suggestion and paint two coats and a large square so you can get the right feel. I love this color:

Honestly it is not a bad color if the color works well with the other colors in your color palette.
I used the green that was in your picture and spread it onto the walls.
The photo you shared is much greener than the SW Website shows as Olive Grove, but the internet is about the worst way possible to view colors.
Below are three rows - top row are my colors, middle row are my sister's colors and the bottom row is my sister-in-laws colors.I added the Olive Grove from the SW website as a background.
Olive Grove would be lovely in my sister's home (middle row) and could be used in my sister-in-laws home (bottom row), but may be too dark. Having an Olive Grove room in my home (top row) would be a disaster.
