Help! How do you revive plants from a cold shock?
Comments (17)It's not looking good. I had watered a few weeks ago when I first took it out and now the soil was dry so I watered it a bit more. Each morning I look at it and it looks like it has spider web threads. It's not a web but it has very light strands on it and I take them off but the next day new ones are back. I don't know what that means. I had been told by a local nursery not to feed because it would stress it.....See MoreDoes anyone use curtains only rather than shades/blinds etc.
Comments (20)Good fabric, good interlining and lining and one has a curtain that will last more than 30 years and still look good. Obviously, if one is of the "I like change and often" school of decorating, it would be madness to spend a lot on curtains. I've always been an "investment decorating" kind of gal. If I love a fabric, I will love it for decades. I don't change things just for the sake of change - why would I if I love what I did in the first place? The DR curtains I replaced (and still loved!) were made in 1985. They lasted until 2016. The cream background had yellowed on the valances and I couldn't just remove them due to festoon blinds underneath and valance boards, whose removal would have destroyed the wallpaper, long discontinued. Didn't want to get into that! But oh, I loved those curtains - pretties ones I've ever had. I would used the same fabric again but it's now printed in the Far East, not in the UK, and it just doesn't look the same. Plus the trim has become prohibitively expensive. I went with another Colefax and Fowler fabric and the only trim is a fabric trim on the bottom of the valance, which is also simpler. They're lovely but they don't make my heart sing the way the old ones did - they were once-in-a-lifetime curtains. Grapefruit, I would agree that very few people today are willing to spring for lovely custom curtains - even wealthy people. They're a huge investment and most people today prefer change or what they see on TV, regardless of their wealth. But curtains can make a room, and if the headings are done properly, they can move from one house to another. It's really all about whether one is looking for trendy or timeless....See Moretoo much sun- foyer windows TINT? SHADES? BLINDS? what to do
Comments (8)I paid about $1100 to do (as I recall) about 9 windows, so your quote seems high. I obsessed over which tint to use--I didn't want to block the light! In the end, I went with the one the sales guy said is what almost everyone chooses, and blocks 97% of the UV rays (or close to that). He was absolutely right, I don't even notice that it's there. And now I want it on ALL the windows in our house. Then, you can assess whether you need a motor or whether you just want to take those blinds down. We have high windows (now with film on them) and I don't notice any glare or have any need or want to put anything else on those windows. It's fine....See MorePella sliding glass door with blinds
Comments (2)If these smudges/scratches are in the space where the blinds are, no, there is no argon. Should be pretty simple and easy to clean that up. Scratches can be a different story. If they are light they can probably be buffed out, by your description there is a good chance that well work depending which surface they are located. Little things like this do occur regardless of manufacturer from time to time, and the frequency is higher right now with the state of the industry (material and labor shortages, delays, high demand, etc)....See MoreRelated Professionals
