Comments (6)We live in CO and our backyard faces south, so we get tons of very hot sun back here. Also, last year when we had the fake grass installed they did all the leveling for drainage (we live sideways on a hill) - the little river area in the back works great for drainage, water runs right though it - but I'd like it to show up more distinctive and decorative than blending in with everything else. We will also put an evergreen in the back right corner later this year, or next spring if the lilac I have there doesn't grow....See MoreNew Property, New Backyard... Need Design Advice!
Comments (11)In addition to "privacy and entertaining space" can we presume that you will also want to enhance the yard/house by improving the appearance and views with plantings? If so, we'd need to see the complete back house face, and the outward looking view (toward the property line) from the most likely patio location, which would be just outside the back door. For the latter, place the camera outside the back door and begin by aiming toward farthest left. While remaining in the same camera position, continue panning/pivoting the camera, taking slightly overlapping shots until you have captured the far right view. The house will show in the first and last picture. To capture the house, move the camera to the property line, in line with the center of the house, looking back at it. Take pictures that begin at the left side property line. Continue panning all the way to the right side property line, with the house in between the starting and finishing point. All of this can probably be dine in about 7 or 8 pictures. Describe exactly where the back lot line is (per something visible in the picture.)...See MoreHelp building a creek in backyard
Comments (10)Cool! I've also been interested in building a rill with a u-channel embedded in rock or gravel so my kids could float little boats down it and stuff. But they're almost teens now, so I think I've missed that boat. lol. Here are some sample rills. Many of these are rather formal, but you could do a more natural, realistic one. : )...See Morenew build help on backyard
Comments (6)The site plan is too small for me to read elevations or follow grading contours, but you will need to insure positive finish grades which channel all surface water away from all sides of your house. It appears that grading along the sides of the house may channel water against the house. Is this correct? If so, you definitely want that corrected....See MoreRelated Professionals
