HELP!! Where to stack Smart Drape by Norman when fully opened?

We are in the process of ordering Smart Drapes by Norman. My dilemma is where should the drape be stacked when fully opened. These draperies will be in my Great room which also encompasses the dining room. The draperies will all be on one wall. The dining room has a large window with 2 smaller side windows which open. The great room /living area has 2 large windows on either end of a 12' slider.

DINING ROOM - either stacked to the far left on the wall and exposing the entire window. Or a center opening with a split stack on either side covering about half of each side windows. If I do a split stack the curtains can only cover 6" on either side of the windows because of the clock on teh center wall.

LIVING AREA OF GREAT ROOM - We were planning on stacking the drapery on the far right of end near the built in bookcases . It will cover most of the end window. If we split the stacks on either side it will cover less of the two large end windows but it will only extend to 6" on teh left wall and only 4" on the right wall due to the book case.

Why drpes it does not appear that you have privacy issues I would do motorized solar shades to control heat and UV and let you keep the view unless the drapes are for some other reason I ma not seeing . I have drpes for ambiance only in my LR I have never closed thme in 18 yrs I just use solar shades to control the UV since I aslo have a fabulous view

It is to control heat, and UV as we get a bright morning sun in the morning in the dining room and partially in the living room we are putting in honey comb 1 -1/4" shades in other rooms that face the SE.You can see the sun on the floor in the pictures although it is partly cloudy here today.

I will share your thoughts.

Wouldn't it look funny with two different window treatments on the same wall? Doing blackout Honeycomb shades on the (3) dining room windows and smart drapes on the right side.

In the event we go with the draperies for the dining room and great room patio door will it look funny with the drapes stacked on the far left of the dining room behind the chair in the corner so we get the full view. And stacked on the far right in the living room only blocking most if not of the very far window. would these curtains would add "ambiance?"

We were planning on doing the smart drapes in the master as well. with a center draw with stacking on either side of the wall next to the window.

Hi Guys! I've been on vacation and in and out a lot. Sorry this is the fist I'm getting back to this. I put them on each side of the window. I do like them there. I wasn't sure about the height at first but after looking at it for a few days I think it's good. They're a little lower than 60" in the middle. It does slightly bother me that they're not centered on the wall on each side of the curtains. They are even in height. Different angles of the room give that illusion. Should the one of the left be lowered a smidge to adjust since people will usually be to the right of the room? If that made sense!! Better? Still not done messing with a plant for one top of the bookends. Squirrel - Thank you for all the PS! I agree the lamp shade isn't the one. Awhile back I got tired of searching for it and just kept that one for now. One of the problems I was running into with larger shades was they would cover a lot of the scrolls and crystals and didn't seem to look right either. I know people have suggested a large drum shade was probably what was originally on there but I don't care for it on this lamp. Tried a couple different fringe ones and it it seemed to be too much with the base of the lamp. I will continue my search at some point! I just needed to get something on there and walk away for awhile.

mleaving_Marji: Thanks for the detailed specs for the measurements. I do prefer a center draw as they are presently. Here is a better picture from before when they still looked good: Overall I have decided I'd like to keep the same orientation, dimensions on the wall and similar color (other possibility I am considering would be a ivory/tan linen). After getting a quote for custom window treatments (WTs) from JC Penney's I am back to debating the grommet top drapes with sheers layered below. I now realize my inner rod can be placed closer to the wall, esp. if I do not require a traverse rod, and so the outermost rod need not extend so far. Are grommet drapes really not practical for daily opening and closing? I could do that for about 1/4 the price of the JC Penney's draperies and I don't think I'll find a much better price elsewhere. These are the ones I am considering which is similar to what I have now (the sage/moss green color): I could get similar fabric in custom, which I like now, but would then feel locked into using for many years; then I wonder if it'd be safer to get an ivory color - but does it really make sense to spend so much on something that I don't really love? With the grommet top ones, I could always change them 3-4 years from now if I feel the need for a change. It must seem like I am very indecisive. I just don't want to make another expensive decorating mistake as even without custom these is a sizable expense once you factor in the rod(s), sheers and outer drapes.

Ah, another late night. Jewel Thanks! Im finally starting to like my room. I do still have that black rod. I think they came down in price. Mine rod was $25. Some of the rings were on clearance while others werent. My rings were full price. Bru I do still like the bronze too. Think Im leaning for a little darker though. It is possible by the weekend Ill want pinch pleats again. JOKING! Think I have that part figured out now. I hung both the LaScala copper bronze and the other Target dark brown up. I already think I know what the response is going to be. . . Target left, LaScala right The LaScala is definitely has more sheen than the other. If I were to get either of these would I need to have two panels on each side? In the pics its only one. LaScala is 41" wide and Dark Brown is 54" I think the weight of them is very similar and theyre both lined. I also wanted to mention after two different Target store trips today, I now have a total of four panels in the dark brown (left) I really need to fix ceiling fan light.

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel of similar proportions and budget, BUT we are able to do a lot of the work ourselves so our costs for wall repair and floor refinishing and levelung are very minimal. We also have plumbers in our family and saved a couple thousand there. We saved another couple thousand because we know a licenced electrician who was willing to do our work as a side job. Our $25,000 kitchen remodel should have cost us closer to $30-35,000. We had a window made smaller, that cost $1200 for window and install (does not include interior wall repair and finish as we will do that). Making a bigger window requires more work (headers) and will cost closer to $2000 with intall. We found it was cheaper to have a local cabinet maker make our cabinets, plus he was able to come and measure and adjust the plan and he will intall and actually scribe the end cabs to fit against our plaster walls. It ends up being cheaper because whereas Lowes has stack boxes, the custom can build the boxes to the required size which depending on the design can be way more efficient. Our cabinet quote from Home Depot was $20,000 ($15,000 with discounts) Our cabinet quote from the local custom was $12,000 and the install is only $1200. Hope this helps! Also, I like the looks of the area with the fridge and I see what you are going for visually, but my first thought was also "that fridge door is too close to the wall and won't open!".

Truly I’m not being facetious but it seems that taking the clock down & being able to utilize that full wall between the 2 sets of windows would resolve much of the issue with stacking panels off the windows. I wouldn’t want to stack panels towards the bookcase - it’ll clutter bookcase up also hide it. The dining panels could split & stack on both sides.
