Comments (25)Coral Corduroy is a favorite of mine too. I like both Changed in a Moment and Cliff Jumper, though all reports seem to indicate that the latter is not a fast multiplier. The greenish throat of Cliff Jumper is appealing. We will see how it does here. Parent RFK was a disaster. Changed in a Moment wasn't as nice as in previous years. The icy lavender eye is striking and holds fairly well. Clash of Absolutes is still not at real clump strength. Curt says that he has made the cross that produced Clash dozens of times, but has not been able to replicate the unique color. A standout this past year was Crintonic Perfect Kiss. I didn't list earlier, as I forgot the Crintonic prefix. It seemed nicer than when I saw it at Crintonic. Next to lavenders, Curt seems partial to pink. Crintonic Candy Store is not more than five inches. I like Contributing Editor. Cupid--it is a young plant that needs to show more. Out of Celestial Virgins, it is pastel. Crintonic Pancho Villa --decent height...See MoreE daylilies 2025
Comments (21)A little late to the party. I love all of the ENTWINED IN THE VINE photos. EDWARD ABBEY and ELIZABETH PEACOCK look great and I think they are being added to my collection late summer from a friend. EXOTIC STARFISH looks fantastic. Here are my additions to this letter: EXPLOSION IN THE PAINT FACTORY: First year for me. The verdict is still out. It is different. ELECTRIC MIST: I liked it, but I don't think it liked my climate. Extremely slow increaser. So it left the garden this past summer. EYE ON AMERICA: Nice plant, but another one that did not like Zone 5. It also left the garden. EXOTIC STARFISH EVENING EYESGADOW: This is an attractive bloom. Bud count is moderate. EXTRA BOLD: Bud Bennett intro EMMA TOMLINSON MCHUGH: This is a wonderful daylily. Blooms well for me. EVERYBODY WANTS SOME: So do I. I took this photo at Cottage Gardens. One day I will have it in my garden. That is all from me. David...See MoreK daylilies 2025
Comments (12)David: I like both of yours, but in particular Kim's Laughter. What a great clump shot. I look forward to seeing it posted again this season.......Brad: Karen's Curls is my pick of these. I like the color combo.........Debra: I miss your Kentucky Lucky. David's clump shot of his yellow reminded me of the masses of blooms you used to get on Kentucky Lucky. I hope you get that back. Kingdom without End looks good, but Emmerichs can struggle here over winter with my pot system so I don't load up with them. If I only had a greenhouse (sigh).........Nan: I've heard Kaskel's Best Edge mentioned before because of it's edge for hybridizing. I love yellow edges on pink daylilies. I didn't realize it wasn't registered though. I hope it survives for you outdoors. I know that if I had a greenhouse it would be loaded with plants, and I'd still have to leave some outside over winter........Kate: I like your Keepsake Rosie and Kara Louise still looks nice in the PM, but the AM color is so lush and velvety looking.............Maryl...See MoreR daylilies 2025
Comments (26)Ruby Storm is reliable here and quite vigorous. Remembered Kisses, for some reason, has not liked the last two seasons. So true about many of the southern-bred ones--it can take a few years before they show their tenderness. It is ASHwood Rings of Saturn. So many good names are used up. Royal Occasion is a rich color. And Roy Doddle Allen is alluring. Look at all the kids of Rose F. Kennedy, and then note how many you ever see offered or flourishing in the North. She does a good job of passing on her slow-growth genes. (There appear to be some exceptions.) Rosie with a Ring was divided and sulked last summer. I sulked too! Roman Cohort does well here, but with division and heat, did not like last summer. Requiem for a Dream was impressive in its first summer here, but is difficult (like many lavenders) to photograph. Large, sunfast (for a lavender) blooms opened early and flat. Resist is not six inches and does not have the ideal candelabra branching that Curt prizes. But the color is striking. Reckless Girls is not tall, but is blooming above the foliage and the color seems to like its new location (which was accidental). Royal Girls was fairly dark in this photo. Earlier, it does have the deeper color of Kate's clump. It fades as the morning progresses. Rainbow Maker looks a bit light in this photo, but one can see the airy placement of blooms. But count modest, and blooms often look larger in photos than they seem in person. Rapture at Sea is a lovely lavender, but not especially vigorous. Roses for Dallas is a nice flower, but not registered height here. Ring Nebula is fairly new. About five inches. Ruler of Nations opens well. Doesn't seem as vigorous as Karol's Every Knee Shall Bow, but I started with a single. Redheaded Hussy is a very brilliant red (Davisson). Rainbow Mesa (older Hanson) looked better than ever. Royal Extravaganza was happy last year. In a previous year, it had some splotchy blooms. In general, it was a bad year for splotchies, but not for Royal. Large flower; a bit of a space hog. Rogue Wave is a Hanson. I have kept Rose Masterpiece because of its early intense color. Unfortunately, it is in the garden that gets earwigs. One would hope that the coldest winter in over 30 years would do in some earwigs. Rogue Primate (Hanson) is vigorous, sunfast, and intense....See MoreRelated Professionals
