"Remove" the curve to save my back?

Moved in June '24 and while I actually love the original 50yr old wood cabinets and the "new" granite countertop, the extra 2" depth at the sink is killing my back (I have degenerative disks btwn shoulder blades).
Is it possible to have the sink bump-out "removed"/sawed/cut so it's a straight run across (of course replicating the same edge)?
We will eventually redo the kitchen (@5yrs) but my back is hoping to hear that removing the curve is possible...

Replace the sink with an apron front style. Post a picture that shows the sink base cabinet including the drawer that looks like this please:

Excuse the mess! The current sink was put in when previous owners replaced original laminate with granite. Thoughts? If not possible to "saw off" the bump/curve I'll just deal with it and pester my DH to reno the kitchen sooner...

"Pecky cypress" is a highly prized wood, because of its imperfections. And, with all the old cypress homes in Louisiana being torn down, the wood used in newer homes are proud to bear the marks of its history. My brother made a table for me from really thick cypress which came from Miss Effie Long's house in Thibodeaux LA. The house was 90 years old when it was torn down, and he discovered that the wood had been recycled from a previous house. Miss Effie was Huey P. Long's sister. When I got the table, I told him to leave it alone, I loved the arcs of the HUGE saw blades on the boards! I did not want them removed. He gave me the table in 1976, and I still have it unfinished and a beautiful silver. The one he made for himself, he refinished it after a lot of sanding, yet there are still small holes on the boards he used for the legs. No telling what made them. Right now you think of them as simply staples, but in the future, they will be HISTORY.

TJ - My wife say there is no "M" in BLT so you might be doing it wrong. For the record, she likes mayo. Poly - I agree about the "leaf shining" chemicals. I guess if you are bored but a rinse with the hose or tap would do the trick. Healthier for you, the plants, and environment. Personally, my preference is to play around with top dressing gravels/aesthetics than mess with the leaves (although I haven't done so in a few years).

Another vote for refinish. When I moved into my home, the previous owners had first done a 1980s pickling on the oak floors (except they did it in the 2000s), and then trashed the floors with I guess running a tractor over it? Jk, but I have no idea how they got the floors to be in such sad shape. Anyway, the floors looked so bad that I had a flooring guy in to talk about replacement. But he took out a small sander, and sanded a little square to show me how nice the natural red oak was underneath. So we sanded, put 3 coats of finish on it, and it looks really great. I left the finish natural because it shows no dirt or wear and goes with everything so I have no dilemmas about choosing upholstery, rugs and wall paint that will go with the floors. As mentioned earlier, what you get today is not going to be as nice as the older wood you currently have. Even if the wood is just 20 years old, it will be nicer than what is available now, and if it is older than that, it's even nicer. I have engineered wood in my ground floor den because it is a bit below-grade and local Code does not allow wood below grade. You can see the inferiority mostly because the real hardwood is just one floor up, but you can also feel it when you walk on it. Having said that, the engineered wood is fine, but if you have real wood already in your home, keep it and refinish it.

Help with new back yard, straight or curved edges?

"Our helpful contractor has offered to pour curbing 3' from the fence around the yard, but it will probably be straight. I'm trying to decide if that's best." As a professional landscape designer, I think this is a very poor design decision. First, a 3 foot width is barely wide enough to support most perennials, let alone any shrubs that would give the garden some structure and year round presence.. Second, concrete curbing is a far too permanent or hard to remove solution to keeping the lawn out of the planting beds. It takes very little effort to manually edge the beds a couple times a season or you could opt for an easy but less permanent solution and use flexible edging (available at most home improvement stores) or stone or concrete cobbles intended for this purpose. And finally, straight, matching parallel borders are best in a more formal setting, whereas graceful and generously sweeping curves lend themselves to a more natural, casual style.

The apron front sink recommended by @Joseph Corlett, LLC would eliminate the curve.

It would buy you time while you work on the plans for the reno of the kitchen.

When you are ready to do the full reno, please feel free to post before you start any demolition or designing!

Cutting a new opening in the countertop, changing the plumbing, cutting or replacing the upper cabinet face seems like more work than cutting the counter edge in a straight line and shaping it, especially because the shaping is optional.

Hubby could put a masonry blade in his track saw and have that cut in 15 minutes, then ease the edge with a grinder in 10 more. Wouldn't look pro but the discs won't care. Or a stone fabricator could do a pro job, which might be advisable since OP might possibly keep the counter in the reno?

You would have to have a sink custom made or a production sink altered at a minimum in order to undermount an apron front sink. It would involve installing the front sink rail in the rear. If you can find someone, expect to spend four to six thousand dollars:

A considerably less expensive (half as much) alternative would be a top mount apron front sink like the Kohler 3942:

I wouldn't advise keeping the sink and ripping off the curve, particularly with that ogee edge profile. That's never going to look good.
