Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 10/2
Comments (26)Congratulations @Funkyart on completing dental work! What an ordeal! I've had some dental work this year, but yours sounded far more in depth than mine. I hope your mouth is feeling great soon and ready for some crisp fall apples and pears. Thankfully I've been keeping up with exercise this week and managed to get in 3 of 4 swims (1 more tomorrow) and 3 runs as well as 5 days of lifting. I'm definitely having to make adjustments due to fall weather and scheduling changes at my pool. I need to take a look at soup recipes soon. I picked up a red kuri squash and kobocha pumpkin at the grocery store yesterday and I'm looking forward to finding a use for them. Saw a good pumpkin thai curry recipe somewhere that I need to track down. I want to make a mango tofu rice bowl recipe, but I'm not quite certain if the mangos I purchased are ready tonight or if I need to wait. They're a different variety (Kiett) that I'm not as familiar with. This weekend we'll be going to a trampoline park for my niece's birthday (just family) so that might be some good exercise. I've never been and don't really know what to expect. Looking forward to Springroz's update when the keyboard arrives....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/11/2024
Comments (29)Oakley hope the medication works. It seems to be working for my DS who has bad bad blood sugar fluctuations and not a great relationship with healthy food. She will be 65 soon enough so I don't think that will change. Shrug. Glad to hear that some of you are doing well with the water. Not I. It seems I can only get down two drinks a day. One is half water half juice and the other one is a cup of ginger tea or decaf coffee. I try to drink another half glass of water in the early evening but always seem to forget. Also I'm not a good protein eater. I think I'm failing in that whole healthy food thing. I fail dismally at replacing the meat for vegetarian protein sources, as I only eat chicken fish and seafood, when I eat animal protein food and often forget to do that. I do eat eggs in the morning and about every third day I add tinned sardines to my faux pho. I love it when I have it but can't have noodle soup everyday. Also I am disappointed that I can't dance my way into muscles.. ;-):-). I have to do more weightlifting so I'm going to try a Zumba with light weights class. I know I need it and if it is successful I will continue to utilize dance with weightlifting. I know they suggest backpacking with weights as well so perhaps I will try that. I suppose I could dance while I am backpacking ;-). Wishing everyone continued success and still totally envious of those who have Pilates in their life. Can't afford it. For some reason can't find a Pilates instruction online that I stick with. So far. ETA this squats improving exercise set. I find this very helpful. https://youtu.be/BqF90pMpjb4?si=VMl19XEFa5C5Ia0E...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/5/2025
Comments (19)Gscience, I usually call my office the computer room since DH used to have his play computer back here also. Both computer room and masterbed room are on the north side of the house so I feel your cold. Our north windows became drafty where the bottom window latch meets the top window & it was last year I discovered bubble wrap stuck tight in the gaps. What a difference! The only thing different I'm doing beginning today is taking Centrum Silver. I don't eat as well as I should, especially meat/iron. Oddly enough, with my poor eating habits my blood sugar went down. Especially since I stopped taking another med (not Ozempic, yuck!) with my regular meds (I'm so done with Ozempic, makes me sick) because I had the main side effect, dizziness. And I unintentionally lost 5 pounds the past three months. I guess this is a NYE resolution, I'm being diligent in keeping my whole body moisturized, especially feet, hands, and face. Norovirus is breaking out everywhere, and of course OK doesn't keep track of it, but the day after Christmas DS & family went to OH for a week, and while driving home, the middle DGD threw up all the way. They had bags for her and had to get home before they got stuck in the OH snow. OH is having a Noro outbreak. I bet it's in OK now. lol I've had it and I don't ever want to get it again!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/26/2025
Comments (8)Funky, I'm sorry you've been sick! I have been busy and haven't had the time to check in on these threads lately. I am glad you're starting to feel better and hope you're back to normal soon. My health and fitness dedication has unfortunately been a bit of a victim of being too busy. Traveling for work and a quick weekend trip meant I wasn't really able to follow my normal exercise routine for a few days. Hosted a few get togethers that resulted in probably too much eating and certainly more alcohol consumption than normal. Work has been very busy with lots of late nights trying to prepare for end of year reviews and budget. Finally my husband and I found a house outside of the city that we are very interested in. It's been on the market for a while so we are working with our realtors to get ready to try to make an offer contingent on selling our home. Which means I am frantically trying to get the house ready for sale. De-cluttering and cleaning and touching up. Things like re-caulking showers and touching up cabinets (myself) and repairing some carpet (hired a professional) and right now the carpets are being cleaned. It's been exhausting. The house in general is in good shape and generally clean, but we want to really make it shine before we take photos and list. Needless to say I'm stressed out and tired. And of course there's staging and the inevitable dread-inducing showings where we'll be frantically scrambling to vacuum up dog hair, hide toothbrushes, and generally make the place look like a showroom. In the meantime, I will get whatever exercise I can and eat the best I am able at this time. With some luck I won't set myself back too far. I am doing better than I have most years at recognizing when my pants feel a little more snug than usual and doing something about it, rather than just ignoring it until it becomes a problem....See MoreRelated Professionals
