Hydro Systems Sydney Tub in shower alcove?
Comments (5)I looked at the Sydney, but I like the interior fit of the Lacey to me better. I think you can get them both in 32". One might be taller than the other. I wouldn't obsess over a deep bath unless you're sure that you'd fill it that much and that your hot water heater can accommodate that size. If you have the appropriate sized water heater and can accommodate at 36" wide tub, I would shoot for that so that you have a good size of shoulder room with the doors/curtain since it's an alcove....See MoreCan a Drop-In tub be installed in an alcove?
Comments (28)I am now very committed to installing a drop in tub in a three wall application. I too, like most others decided on this so I could tile the front. When I started thinking about the waterproofing in a little more detail it became apparent it was going to be a problem. Here is my though for waterproofing. the three closed sides. 1. Use the manufacturers tiling-in bead 2. Install cement board to top of tiling-in bead 3. Waterproof cement board with Kerdi. 4. Run Kerdi long to get 1/4" overlap onto tub and secure with Kerdi Fix while filling void between tiling-in bead and Kerdi with Kerdi Fix. 5. Install tiles leaving 1/4" gap to tub and fill gap with 100% Silicone Tub at 3 walls My though for the open wall is this. 1. Frame pony wall with 1/4" per foot slope at top to ensure excess water sheds to floor 2. Install small back stop on inside of framing to ensure no water can get to the inside of the framing 3. Place backer board and install Kerdi from Back Stop, over the horizontal piece and into the vertical. 4. Fill small gap between tub and tile with color matched Silicone Tub at Pony Wall: And yes, none of my doodles are to scale. Does this seam like a reasonable waterproofing solution?...See MoreNeed opinions regarding a window install in my hall bath tub area
Comments (9)I've done showers that had all kinds of windows. I'm not saying it can't be done. BUT. be aware there's a risk associated with it. <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Vincent/media/Flaherty033.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt=" photo Flaherty033.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Vincent/media/Allen120.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt=" photo Allen120.jpg"/></a>...See MoreAm I crazy to paint master bath black to accent tub/update vanity?
Comments (38)No, I would not paint a bathroom in a home I'm trying to sell black. That is too specific to appeal to the masses (which is your target audience). Could a designer make black walls look amazing? Yes. Can people on this forum send you pictures of bathrooms with black walls? Yes, But none of that relates to you because you're not a designer and "most" people will probably not respond positively to that. Yes, your bathroom is very dated. But what I would do is start with A) a budget, and B) an overall plan. Get someone with some decorating sense to help you BEFORE you do anything. There are too many things wrong in that space to start calling it all out without knowing how much money you have to spend on this and the style of the home, but in general if you can't remove that paneling then you're looking at painting it a light, neutral color. You're looking at painting all of that cabinetry and trim. You're looking at a new counter top and sinks. You will need new mirrors (you need two, one over each sink), new lighting fixtures and new faucets and cabinet hardware. And then you're going to have to remove that weird angled wall piece, I'm not sure what that is actually, but it has to be removed....See MoreRelated Professionals
