Instead of trying to find a light that will fit a square peg in a round hole, why not just have the electrician come out and lower the boxes. When the light comes at you, it's much more flattering than from above you. I joke all the time that I'm bald in the closet (overhead light only) but gorgeous at the vanity. LOL If you get the right sconces and placement, I'd bet you won't even turn on those overhead cans except to clean. Good luck!

LOL, YES, I am on overload for sure. I can see the finish line or maybe I am the horse that sees the barn! We have been remodeling since 2011. Yes, we have a heater,, vent, nightlight combo in all bathrooms. I am a big believer in them. We are changing the mirrors, cabinets, lights, and the tub will be changed to a shower. The marble floor will stay. The previous owners put that same marble in the kitchen. You can probably imagine what it looked like after 20 years on a kitchen floor. It was awful to remove, so we will keep the marble floor in the bathroom. We will probably go with white and/or and gray tile because of the black and white marble. We have already installed a white Toto toilet. The electrician asked what I am using for lights. I had no answer because I didn't know he was coming today until he texted last night. I will try to get into a bathroom showroom Thursday. Thank you!

Food for thought: when people start getting cataracts, they tend to see things in a more yellow or even brown tint. I sometimes wonder if that’s why some people lean toward the cooler end of the spectrum. That being said, I don’t think 4000k is terrible for a bathroom or even a dark kitchen. It’s actually fairly neutral and still has a slight yellow tint. To my eyes, 3500k starts to look too yellow. Now 5000k is too much for most indoor places (though I use them in my basement). You are correct that CRI is important for color rendering, which may be important in a bathroom, especially if you are relying on it to put on natural looking makeup. But going too yellow or too blue will also affect the way we see color to some extent. After my mother had cataract surgery many years ago she came in my house and told me how much she liked my living room paint color. It was a pale yellow beige at that time. She said before her surgery the whole room looked like it was way too yellow and brown.

I'm guessing your lovely house is in Amsterdam! Will you follow any cultural norms for bathrooms that we typically do not see in the U.S.? Like say a separate toilet room with a small handsink, or a wetroom combination of all fixtures. It appears that your Storage Room (Berging) has some mechanical equipment from the vent in the door. If so, then I would say that it must be accessible separately from either the bedroom or bathroom, which would lead to a small landing at the top of the stairs, where you can choose to have a separate entrance door for each of the Bedroom and Bathroom or not. Also, when I compare the floor plan drawing to the pictures, the drawing is a little off. When you are fighting for inches, it is important to get the as-built correct. For instance, the area under the sloped roofs is usable, and probably urgently needed as part of each space. The Storage door placement and length of that wall to the window is quite important to see how a bathroom can be manipulated when keeping the existing windows.
