Your shower enclosure has very thick walls. I would want to recover that footage. Do you have a main bathroom with a tub? I do not see any logic is spending money on a free standing tub, then add the jets? Anecdotal history says that's a HUGE waste of money and adds soooo many hassles down the road. Your inspo pics are beautiful but how much are you willing to pay for a tub that as you say comes with more challenges as far as FUNCTION goes? LET IT GO. Focus on a decent shower and vanity area that gives everyone what they need to prep for their day.

The pics certainly show the current best choice for your space, in general. No jets.

Will add my husband and I are bodybuilders. I use my tub all the time for healing. I think a whirlpool tub would be very beneficial.

Arcy; I use my tub all the time and it’s the master bath. The other tub is over run by children. I hate the fact Im going to have to use it during this remodel. 😅

Another option remove built in tub but keep wall up but change wall to flat/squared edge vs round for a more modern look.

I know wanting to save money drives things but in this case do it right the first time . I too love my tub but when I workout really hard my go to is nice massage as a treat . Most of my clients that insisted on ajetted tub found it was a novelty for a bit then took too long to fill .Before you switch to FS go test them I found our cast iron FS tub even when i was ateenager was a PITA to get in and out of . You need a min of 12" all around and even then you will almost have to stand on your head to clen behind

If it were me, i’d measure and draw out the bathroom and see exactly how everything fits together - are you thinking your freestanding tub would also be on the diagonal?

FWIW I think inspo pics can often skew scale, so I would put a pin in looking at those and plan the best shower tub layout you can in your bathroom -

baths are SO crazy expensive so renos are stressy I think

My husband is a chiropractor and we own a clinic with a massage therapist so I get my massages too, but I also use the tub almost daily for soaks

You need to sit down and draw the whole space. Every wall. Every window. Every obstruction. It’s a full gut regardless based on your description of the water damage. Moving wood framing or jiggering plumbing a little costs nothing in the overall scheme. Post a plan here in the comments.

Hallett also was remiss in mentioning the drawing needs to be 100% to scale or every dimension needs to be added. Every dimension.

Forget a free standing jetted tub. They ae not nearly as comfortable or easy to use as a drop in jetted tub. You can use the deck of the tub to extend into the shower as a bench seat, and it all looks cohesive and planned.

And they found another leak🤦‍♀️; really leaning towards gutting it all

That second leak was a blessing in disguise. Now you can get a whole new more functional bathroom. After it's done and paid for you'll enjoy it for years to come. Keep us posted on your progress.

I agree! We found tile over tile all throughout the shower (even ceiling!) the floor cracked and leaked below. It’s been a mess but thankful we didn’t remodel to find this later.

This is the inspo which their dimensions are smaller than mine. And I will not be using a mosaic on walls just shower floor. Im eager to stop using my 4 kid’s bathroom and have our own back but better.

So your sketch with dimensions was hard to understand. If you do a freestanding tub is there room to put the short end under the window so there is lots of room around it? Also, the ‘kids barging in’ comment made me think maybe you have one solid wall along the long side and a glass wall along the short side (by the tub if the tub is turned)? A full wet room like you are showing is $$$ and not private (obviously). Get your plan fully thought out before you buy a thing.

Your vanities have to be taken into consideration here (again, I’m stating the obvious). But what may not be obvious to you is you may have a vanity butting up right next to that wall of glass in your inspiration photo which becomes hard to clean around so you either build pony walls or ??? Again, back to getting the plan on paper with every inch thought out.
