Hosta Q 2024 **************
Comments (11)Sorry to hear about the eaglets. It’s a vulnerable stage, but add in dangers that shouldn’t be there, and it’s hard to survive out there. So sad. Here’s the best pic I could get of a bald eagle flying over a lake I was visiting in October. A wild ferret showed up and took care of my rat problem a few years back. Since then we have a combo of neighbor’s cats and stray cats that frequent my yard along with foxes. No more rat problems. Laurie, Callie is a beauty with that big smile on her face. 😊 Ann, that’s pretty funny these days! Paula, I’m glad you’re not going to waste those precious eggs, and don’t we all try to keep a little extra TP around these days? That pic reminds me of the Wigwam Motel on Rt. 66. I’m not sure if my Queen Josephine survives, but I hope to find out this coming season. Here are my Q’s for the day. The neighborhood quails. They are such a good family unit. Crossing the street first, watching for any dangers, is the quail daddy. Then the tiny babies hurl themselves off the curb to follow. They're so small at this point. Mom follows up in the rear making sure each and every one of the babies crosses safely. It’s a wonder those tiny ones can get back up the curb on the other side. I once had to help one reunite with its family when it couldn’t make the jump. These all made it....See MoreHosta T 2024 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comments (25)Peren.all, you know your Teaspoon photo belongs in the Hosta Library, right? And so does that Tick Tock, mbug! I am impressed with those Tootie Mae's. Unfortunately, I lost one. It grew slow for me. Regarding the Timex watches--my dad once found one at the edge of the road after a long winter. And it still worked! Wow! Regarding Twilight, I too was experiencing crappy looking leaves mid season. I wrote about it and Bruce Banyai had an interesting viewpoint. Here is the link to that post: https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/2052456/twilight#n=16 Now about that square, peren.all says 14. I have counted 12. My husband says 11(?). This will be a serious discussion at the dinner table this evening! A few photos: Titanium. Not looking that great. It could be it suffered from the torrential rains we got. Touch of Class. Heuchera needs dividing. But it is a nice color combination, so I will probably put a piece of it back there again. Touch of Class (one is not enough!)...See MoreHosta V 2024 ............. . . .. . . . ...
Comments (18)Thank you Debra! I did not know that, how I don't know. I usually check the HL for info. Interesting. I went through old pics and the scapes look smooth but I will take a look in spring. It sometimes sports variegated leaves but I have not had a chance to check the multitude of progeny and sports. Lisa your VS is looking wonderful. nhl nice venusta but your V in the W is terrific. old_dirt I am with Debra. I have always admired VV and wow your Vulcan is super. utog another wow for VLS. Comments (28)after my comment with the photo of 3 Junes I was off my phone a few hours.. Laurie..hmmm..I never thought about having a seedling..I've seen June reversions here and just assumed reversion..when I took a close look at the blue leaves on my Junes they appear to be part of the crown..it made me reluctant to separate them..not as easy as I like..lol.. debra..I take it back..I said what you thought could be ADG didn't have cupped leaves like my ADGs..I see cupped leaves in your recent photo..you're another one with a lot of blues!.. some of my ADGs are extremely cupped..see the leaves at the top of this pic?..maybe they flatten as they grow.....See MoreRelated Professionals
