Comments (20)I see that Golden Glitz has some Great White in its parentage. GW has been used so much in hybridizing. Some of its kids have inherited some of the slow increase trait: Also Known As, Ain't She Nice (to a degree), Michael Miller (to a great degree), while others such as Blue Pink Beauty, Green Mystique, and Boundless Beauty increase well. Of course, some of its genes are quite diluted with crosses. So many Green Icons. It hasn't been tall here, at least not yet, in a rather short time. I always fear the Emerald Starburst line. Nice to see the Cottage Garden plants. How far is that garden from the lake? I believe it is a warmer zone than inland. Glass Houses. Pic is from 2023. Not quite as good this past summer. But what a summer--we were in the exceptional drought category (highest) for a long time (dark maroon), when nothing but parts of West Virginia and western PA had that color. Meanwhile, someone in Indiana complained about how much rain she had gotten. Garry Bewcyk. Very nice when it is clean. At Crintonic, it is usually better than here. Quite well budded. Glowing Quasar Geneva Firetruck. This makes for such a showy spot and grows well. I don't know why it isn't more popular. Guayabera --a Hanson with good height. Guard Your Heart. An Emmerich that is fairly new and fairly short right now. Graphic Art --too much sun on this day. Very reliable and wonderful habit. GIMMEE GIMMEE GIMMEE --an earlier bloomer I still look forward to. Rather washed out this year....See MoreH daylilies 2025
Comments (20)Nan, does Heavenly Grave Digger bloom with upfacing blooms like parent Vampire Fish.? I messaged you, but you may be like Debra and don't receive messages. I generally like the blossoms of taller ones to look at me, not the sky. I like the colors of Highly Venomous, but then saw the 5-inch size. Perhaps you can add some size to it. Kate, I'm surprised to hear that Hush Little Baby isn't prolific in MS. I agree about Heartbeat of Heaven--a matter of when it's good. Hearts of Glass--what do you think of it? Hawaiian Swirls had to be deleted here too. Yes, the occasional flowers could be nice, but wanted to be hundreds of miles farther south. So many nice H's pictured already; too many to name. Here are some faces of Hey Soul Sister. Its bud Count is not an attribute. Hot Buttered Rum has good bud count, but like many, seemed washed out last year. I was surprised to see Nan's darker picture. It is a tall plant, blooming fairly late. Heman was not a strong performer last year, and colors were lighter in the bleaching heat. Court Troubadour to right. Heroes on Horseback bloomed before the first heat wave. Nicely spaced flowers; airy presentation. Handwriting on the Wall had fewer blooms after division, but still looked good. Half Moon Key surprised with its strong performance earlier in the season. Heavenly United We Stand always has a picture-worthy scape. Heavenly Star Fire is a very large and tall bloom. Hiding Place, not particularly vigorous, looked very good, with nice clear colors this past summer. Emmerich. Heartbeat of Heaven, in a full-sun location, had a good year How Lovely You Are has delicate hues. It can be very well budded, but was recently divided. The Rices' last years hybridizing unfortunately turned to the Doorakian line, and I don't see of their last intros popping up. Of course, it is typical that the last intros aren't well distributed....See MoreN daylilies 2025
Comments (17)I see several N's here that I used to grow. Nile Princess was a decent performer for me, but the seedlings I got out of it were all surprisingly ugly. I loved North Wind Dancer despite its leaning scapes, but it didn't make the final cut. I chose not to bring dips or lates with me. No Boys Allowed never had a bud count higher than 9 and was a reluctant pod setter, so it got left behind. The photos of it posted here show how striking the blooms are. It always multiplied well and was quite photogenic - especially in a clump. Kate - I'm surprised Neon Flamingo hasn't multiplied well for you. It was a good multiplier for me - except in drought years. I sold several divisions and gave some fans away over the years. Navajo Pony is one I'm always drawn to, but it never did much for me. Mantis - Navajo Warrior and Nelson Mandela are both beauties - even if they are only 5 inchers. Natalie Antoinette looks good! I would like to have that one again, especially if it grows well in a northern climate. Sherry - That pic of Night Moves is gorgeous! Nan - I love Now or Never! Good to know a DeVito does well for you. I'm hoping So Irresistible will thrive here. Brad - Lovely photo of NWD! Your seedlings from it look great. I especially like the one with Carmen Renee as the other parent. Is that one a late bloomer? Here's my photo of Nile Princess from last year. It's now growing in three friends' gardens. North Wind Dancer often had high bud counts for me and, grown in full sun, only leaned after storms. I did love those twirly, curly petals. I may replace it at some point. Comments (16)Once Over Lightly--I too like the white midrib. Orange Velvet is nice, but a bit of a space hog here. O'Bannon Orchid looks interesting. Are the scapes strong on this diploid? Omega Red is a tall bloomer with large flowers. One for Steve did well in 2023, but wasn't memorable in 2024. Blooms just above the foliage. One Last Dance was quite attractive last summer. Here it catches the morning rays. Another pic later in the day. Some sneer at those who still relish Moldovans. Since they usually grow vigorously, the price is too low for some. I remember one person haughtily noting on Facebook: "I don't buy anything for less than $50." Origins of Totalitarianism. I think Curt chose this name because it is hard to pronounce. Not the best pic of Ocean Spirit. Scapes are quite strong, and it is well budded. Once and for All --This Korth will have to grow a lot....See MoreRelated Professionals
