annz - The "Priceless" plaque was the perfect gift at the perfect time. My BD is end of July and we had hit a discouraging phase of the build - sheetrocking was taking forever to dry because of the humidity, and driving 1 1/2 hrs. round trip after work to check on progress, and seeing little, was a bummer. We walked in one evening to find the plaque had been left leaning on the stove by one of my best friends with a birthday card. It helped put things in perspective, and it just seems to have found its spot there. She got it at a gift shop in Wolfeboro, NH. Can't reach her just now, but I will track down the name for you. jill h - My rabbit came from TJ Maxx, 3 years ago. I had just lost my beloved little beagle that we'd had for 15 years. I spied this little rabbit and noticed that it had the same look in the eyes that my dog had and had to buy it. I've seen rabbits on our road and tracks near our brook. The rabbit by the window seems to be a good fit with the windowscape. Glad you like it! I think I've seen some from that same artist's line at TJ's around Easter in the years since I bought mine. Now, and in the coming few weeks might a be a time you could find one.

My family has a "camp" on lake Champlain and originally it had the pine paneling and wood floors, to me it was the epitome of a vacation lake house. It reflected the natural setting so perfectly, was low maintance and had a wonderfully fun campy feel. In the 90s it was updated, with a white kitchen, painted wood work, and drywall walls. It is now "light and bright" but feels like every other home in the states. I no longer find it a reprieve and it has lost that authentic lake camp feel. I was still in college and had no ownership in the property so no say but how I wish they updated it with just new furnishings and keep the original vibe of the "camp". I covet your beautiful camp!

for the windows, I'd consider just getting the arches drywalled over if you can afford it (if you think you get enough natural light with them currently covered up). the problem is that due to the ceiling angles, you can't put a curtain rod above the arches. and those "fan" shaped blinds are so dated. unfortunately this is kind of an expensive solution. regarding your question about the gold fixtures in the bathroom. originally I suggested updating the vanity for now, but that's before I saw the shower. I'd reno that whole room if I could. but if you really can only do some temp fixes for now: I stand by my suggestions from above (small fixes to improve the vanity area). in addition: take that shower door off, patch the holes in the acrylic surround, and install a nice shower curtain. it'll be an instant update, and hide what's going on in the shower. as for all the brass: there are many designers here who think mixed metals are fine. if you updated the vanity area, I think it would work fine.
