Knew I was too cocky picking out tile by myself...help with sink pleas
Comments (13)We bought a very small but tall vanity with a bowl on top in our very small bathroom. It has drawers and it is AMAZING how much stuff we can fit. There are 3 drawers. The top one is mine for brushes, combs, hair stuff. The middle one is my partner's and he has a ton of stuff in there, including his shaving stuff. The third one is deeper and I have my blow dryer, curling irons, curlers, etc in it. And, the bottom isn't a drawer but a tall enough cabinet to hold TP, extra soaps, feminine stuff, cleaning supplies, etc. It's up off the floor with metal legs, to help protect against water. It also makes it look a tad more clean and open. I've become a huge believer in vanities with drawers as a result. We bought ours through Home Decorating catalog, if anyone is interested. Comments (55)I think we're going to have to have an electrician come in and rewire the house or something. The bathroom, the two fan lights in the kitchen, and the lights in the main room in the basement go out all the time. Doesn't matter what kind of bulbs we put in there, they burn out. Yet the light over the sink is on pretty much 24/7 and it's been replaced like once in 16 years. For the last long while, we quit buying the "good" bulbs b/c if we get three months out of them, that's a good length of time for us, but the cost is outlandish to replace that often for bulbs that rarely are used. The cabinet door goes to shelving in the hall. If we didn't have the shelving, we'd lose quite a bit of storage, so we can't take the shelves out to put a hamper in there....See More10' accent wall in open floor plan, design decor advice needed
Comments (58)@Beth H et al.. yes, and I'm really thrilled with all of the recommendations, everyone has style and it's great to see varying opinions. So I don't want to think anyone has wasted their time, I think down the road in the near future, we will go with something built out pretty much like you were suggesting early on. As we just finished the remodel within the last year, we are not up for building anything out or even tiling the wall at this point. We don't need new furniture at the moment (kids will ruin it anyway). For now, we were looking for something minor / superficial, if that's the correct verbiage. While we know now, that it may not look "perfect", it's where we're at now. That said, we don't want to do anything (now) with the fireplace, what we are open to is: some type of shelving (which would have to be shallow in depth, I think), definitely plants (faux preferably), artwork or like I mentioned (which may have gotten lost), is maybe B&W canvas print collage (I'm a part-time photographer and we have zero photos of our kids displayed). We are also open to putting a small corner piece to the left side, but it would have to be very small footprint as we only have about 12" from the wall to the lightswitch near the slider, but after hearing/seeing some of the plant options, I think we prefer that. Another note, we (I) have a floor subwoofer to the right hand side, you can see my wife's aerogarden sitting on top of it until we find a home for it :) Hopefully, that helps, again, I really do appreciate everyone weighing in and taking a lot of time for the mock ups. -Matt...See MoreComplimentary tile needed for bathtub wall: help with advice please!
Comments (9)I feel like a glass tile might be nice with your flooring choice. I found this one on Tilebar. It is a bit dark maybe. Mangata groove cafe glass tile But there is also this, which is Crema. I think that is likely what you've got on your floor. This one is a good size 2X8 - so longer than your regular subway. Crema marfil 2 X 8 I'm sure if you look, you can find a ceramic tile to mimic Crema. I agree that white tile isn't the right choice. There is quite a range of colours in glass tiles and I'm wondering if that look nice in your bath. You mention you don't want bland and I think that more of the same as the floor might end up being just that, bland. Here is a glass sample, I don't know if it would be the right colour, but if you could find something similar colour to your grout choice, that might look nice.
