What is the best brand and price? I am only one person and finding that my apt size fridge is still much, the space is wasted in the fridge and freezer. It would need fit about the size of a standard size dishwasher which is being remove as I don't use it. Also have a 10 x 11 tiny kitchen so space wise this is perfect. thanks!

Like nightowl, I'm not sure I wouldn't regret having the fridge and stove too far apart. Have you had a fridge halfway in the hallway/halfway in the aisle like that before? Maybe it would look better. My mother in law thought that having the fridge at the intersection of the 2 aisles would be nice for taking a step backwards/etc. I don't have family traffic coming through the bar area. I specifically wanted my kitchen further from the garage so it did not become a drop zone. My kids will have a kitchenette/sink space downstairs by their rooms, so they really shouldn't be coming in the kitchen when I am cooking. They would be in the kitchen in the morning/afternoon/after dinner to get their school lunches ready. The island is sort of meant as a barrier to keep people out of the kitchen. It worked well in my last home! I would imagine that would change some of the congestion rules? Like nightowl, I also think that if my stovetop is 48 inches, I would likely put a cutting board on half of it for multiple things. But I also don't stand at the stove for 30 minutes.....I have to be moving. When I worked at the grocery store and turned 15.5, I turned down a 50 cent raise to become a checker....told them I would quit if I had to stand at a register for very long.....we settled on the training, the raise, and a promise to only use me as a backup checker. I also don't like working on counter space under upper cabinets. I would always move a few extra feet to have a more open space to work(like the island). My kitchen in my temporary house has uppers above every surface except the sink...I find cutting vegetables or any other prep work in it miserable. I also never used the space next to the stove in my last house to prep, and the island was blocked on that side, so I had to go 5 or 6 steps to get to a good spot there. Mrs.Pete-Thanks for all your feedback! I use my breadmaker maybe once a week. I prefer an oven baked loaf, so the breadmaker is my cheat. Since it is rather heavy and large, I would rather keep it in the pantry. I would probably just bring the insert bowl over to the baking cabinet and load everything in. If I got decided to use it a lot one week, I would just leave it on the counter. (It was in the basement when not used at my last home) I see using my lower cabinets' countertop for some of those longer cycle appliances, like crockpots when I don't want to leave them on the kitchen counter all day. The pantry you showed is similar to what I will have in the basement. I do not like going to the grocery store often (my parents go at least once per day.) We also plan to store root vegetables/apples/etc in the basement in addition to home canned items. Unless disaster strikes, we will stay off the grid, but still enjoy the farm to table idea. Yes, the pantry may be slightly larger than necessary, but I don't want to add on later. So trying to at least get my spaces in. I imagined I could put 2 doors on the middle of the cabinet under the 12 inch overhang. For those once a year items, I could move the barstools, (deep clean under the overhang) and bring the holiday items out. Seems like a good use of space, and easier than storing elsewhere. I looked at getting the Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers. After going to the Sub-Zero showroom I ended up ordering a 24” built in Sub-Zero under counter refrigerator. More space and less money. The drawers are cool but really don’t hold much.

OK, so it sounds to me that you are trying to do this little kitchen on the sly. I'm going to say you need a drain for a washer/dryer and sink. Yes you have one where the sink is now, but I'm advocating moving the sink. If it is possible to move the window near your sink, I would. I'd put a stackable washer/dryer in a cabinet to the right of that window. I'd have lower cabinets along that wall with a corner easy reach wooden lazy Susan. Then I'd put the kitchen sink under the next window (yes, have the window above the sink). The dishwasher to the left of the sink and then more cabinet space, then a counter depth full size refrigerator/freezer also in a cabinet (which could have an icemaker) and a pull out cabinet. The seating area would be in the middle. In the space between the doors, I would put pantry storage. It might have to be two 42" wall cabinets stacked on each other with extra depth (yes, you can do that). Check out Starmark cabinets. They've got all kinds of great organizational cabinets and even a bread board. Their reputation is good and they appear to have quality cabinets. I know about them because I'm designing a new kitchen for my small space and have researched about 40 cabinet manufacturers. You could have your microwave under the counter or on top. Code requires a landing space within a certain number of inches from a fridge, which is why I put some between it and the sink. It's always nice to look outside while at the sink. Also, it's probably not that much to move the windows up or replace them (worth the money). Smaller appliances cost as much as the full sized ones, so I wouldn't compromise on the fridge/freezer. All this being said, if you cannot move the windows, then I would put a storage cabinet where the current sink is, a bench seat under the window, then sink, dishwasher, stackable washer/dryer in a cabinet. Left of the next window would be a refrigerator and cabinet space. The seating area would still be in the middle. The narrow depth pantry space would be the same as previously mentioned. Since the whole area is small, it's not far from the fridge to the sink and you still have landing space around everything. Good luck with your project! Oh, and you can get counter top induction cook tops (2 burner) and wonderful convection microwaves, both plug into regular wall outlets. I get that you just put those windows in, but it's still better to replace the one near the current sink than to have a horrible layout. Can it just be lifted the 10" you need, having it start at counter top height?
