Got some more photos this morning and yesterday the electrical finally got installed. Now after the very first telephone call which was done during May... we have power. We really got jerked around and big-time. But it's over with. That fan with the big blades (ceiling fan) does actually push pretty good air. The bigger blades do have an effect. I'd say it could be 25-35% stronger than the typical, decent ceiling-hugger installed in the 80's. That's all I got to go on. Here's the goods: (Have a great weekend) Dax Dawn: There are four on a span of maybe 30-35 feet? This is the true color of this ceramic tile (just rained): I've been waiting for that fireplace stone wall for a month. However, it is I who is not in charge! lol

Thanks for the floorplan. I'm still liking the idea of a sectional that floats in front of the windows and then in front of the island. Then a couple of chairs on the wall with the doorway that leads to the pantry and utility room. You could actually do a curved sectional in that space also, but it seems like that might not be the best use of space. I think I figured out my problem with a loveseat on the wall you wondered about - not only would it feel unbalanced, it will protrude so far that it will be partly in front of the fireplace, or at the least the fireplace surround, and I don't think that will look good. A sectional like I have would actually work... but I don't have a pic of it. It has a chaise on one side, but the back goes all the way down on that side except for the last few feet, and there is no armrest on that side. Nice for reclining and watching TV. Feels a bit more open that way and that would work on your windows side. I had my sectional custom made because I needed a particular size and, of course, nothing was made in that size. Also because I'm tall and like a deep seat and firm seat so was able to get those things done the way I wanted. It didn't cost too much more than buying something from a furniture store. Well, more than Ikea but... :) And it is deep enough, and the back cushions are not attached, so it makes a comfy extra bed when needed! You'd hate it, however, because it is deep. Good luck. Flooring is much harder for me! :)

I love your kitchen and breakfast nook. I can see where you are going. the fp wall looks so much better without the book cases. the fireplace is pretty neutral. you're lucky there. I think it's the corbels and chunky wood mantel that don't sync with your scheme. hard to tell from the photos, but if the corbels could be removed without a lot of damage, and replacec with a more modern , thinner charcoal mantel, you'd probably be happier. if you can't, I think I would replace the mantel, painting out the corbels, or replace them with steel. which side for the tv wouldn't be s big issue for me. but, I'd try to keep everything lined up with the top of the mantel. Ie, top of tv in line with mantel, and maybe a new dark floating shelf or book case on the other side, all at the same height, to keep it all in line. I'm guessing that this is a 70s or early 80s split level. also guessing you are not loving the colonial railings around the stairwell. all in good time. before you replace them, I'd try painting them the new dark color of the mantel. best of luck. you have made a great start. love your new rug, too.

Change one of the tags on this post to design dilemma for more responses. I’d suggest filling in the recessed wall. Any chance seating could go at that spot and hang/set a TV to the left where a sofa is? Or is it an open area?
