Help with floor and cabinet colors -see photos
Comments (8)Yes, my husband, kids and I all like the yellow cabinet color. We tried several creamy yellows, but they just came out looking very washed out. The cabinet maker knew we wanted yellow, so when he did his mock-up to see if he was on same page as us for design, he used the yellow he happened to have in his kitchen. I don't have the color, but it's lemon something, which looked way to bright in store, but the pure creamy yellow we were imagining when we saw it on the cabinet. Yes, we love white and black hex tile, but are pretty sure we will use it (probably white, but maybe not black for the accent, not sure) on part of countertops because it always looks so stunning to us. We know we don't want it on floor because Large 13 in white tile is what was put in by prior owner about 17 yrs ago, and it's so cold, shatters everything, really tough on the legs w/lots of standing and is always super dirty even shortly after we've cleaned. We know some of same negatives on counters, but it won't be whole countertop and some of those negatives not as bad on counter as on floor for us. So, marmoleum (along w/yellow cabinets!) is one of the things we are sure of. Like that it's period appropriate, green building material and softer and warmer than tile. Color is hard to tell from the pictures. In person, everyone I've asked likes the darker, more intense blue and green, but I think that's because they just like the colors more, not necessarily that they can envision a whole floor of it. These are marmoleum dual tile t3223 emerald and t3030 blue. I especially love the green, but I just love green. The more muted colors are from the MCT tile line of marmoleum. The colors are very similar, but w/more white marbling through them. They are definitely less intense. I think they might actually hide dirt better than the more pure colors. In certain parts of the day, they look especially washed out and more grey, but other times, plenty of color. We don't have lot's of natural light in the room. There are 2 small windows. Defintely less dramatic - noticable, but that could be good, or bad. The colors are:mct3222 Jade and mct-3055 fresco blue. The splatter blue-grey only comes in sheet. It does look muddier when looking at monitor, but more grey-blue mottled when viewed from above. Looks good w/grey, blue, green and yellow, all colors we could use in future w/walls and cabinets. I actually think it would be safer, maybe a lighter feel, and definitley better at hiding dirt, but don't just want to be safe. The splatter is called Winter Alps. I don't have the color number. Hearing many like the checkerboard is encouraging. Our cabinet maker thought it might be too much w/the cabinets. One thing I've noticed in pictures w/chekerboard is there is often another color, or one of same colors coming out from the walls and counters making a border, and I kind of think that looks less busy in some way than just the checkerboard (we would do checkerboard on the diagonal). I'm thinking it's kind of like a lot of quilts, though I'm not a quilter. A lot of times there is a plain border arouund the outside of the blanket. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. Any other color suggestions and comments are welcome....See MoreWhite cabinet and kitchen wall paint choices
Comments (28)Here are all the various shades of color you that have to be juggled. The table chairs work with your home and should stay Obviously the floor is staying IMO the wall color to start with is too green & needs to be changed Not sure the cabinets should be one color. Because of the style of the home, I'm wondering if the chair frame distressed finished should be duplicated on your cabinets. See image below. Maybe one color for the island and another for the perimeter cabinets or one for the top cabinets and a darker color for the base cabinets. Here is the Anne Sloane Chalk paint with two different wax finishes. BTW give your table and chairs a quarter turn like this. The area will flow better....See MoreShoji white vs pearly white

Comments (70)cdisimone - I have very similar color cabinets and granite in my kitchen except my backsplash is lighter and floors are very dark porcelain, wood look tile. I've been looking for a color that will work throughout the majority of my house too. After weeks of deliberating, I started with my dining room and painted Shoji White last night. Not sure I like it....it does not look warm or creamy in my house at all. It looks like a very light cool gray. :-( I was going more for a warm white so I can brighten things up but still have the warm, cozy feel. I'm going to give it a few days before continuing on through the rest of my house. My suggestion is to paint an entire wall or much larger sample on your wall before deciding!...See MoreRelated Professionals
