Does this piece of art work in my room (w/pics)?
Comments (55)I love the first and last stripe! I like the way the line draws your eye up and the last one is simple enough to not compete with the rug or the armoire. the one I picked was tough; there were so many that had your colors in them at Horchow! That one seemed to go more with your rug (which looked red, gold and brown on my monitor!)because it didn't have any green, but in the end I was thinking it had a subtlety that might work. having all of the colors represented is probably your best bet, though- it definitely brings your eye all the way around the room in a nice way. IMHO, you can't make your walls look too tall. Drawing the eye up is almost always a great thing. And I think some height will balance out the weight of the armoire as well. but only you can see how things look in person! clearly you have great taste!...See MoreCraft Art wood counters in main prep space--will I regret it?
Comments (41)it's the regular black walnut. There are three knots on my top actually. I wish I had thought to take a far away shot when I had Jen's camera last night! Next time I will back up and take a full top shot for you guys. I can't believe no one else is in awe though. I never Ever thought rubbing alcohol would take of permanent marker from waterloxed wood. (someone on here said "Waterloxed - new verb!" and I am totally stealing that) : )...See MoreLOVE this Art Deco vanity but unsure how fits with rest of house
Comments (7)Thank you for helping me settle this. I really appreciate it. I too felt that it was a strong piece which did not have a place in the master bedroom suite. I really like using antique furniture for the bathroom. Thank you for helping me follow my instinct to have the buffet left by the first owner refinished. It has a farmhouse feel and it weighs a ton. I like the idea of having a higher sink vanity in order to avoid bending down so far. I hear vanities are being built higher which makes sense to me. A friend has 750 sq feet of travertine (don't need all of it and will have to be filled, sealed, and polished which would do well for shower walls) with interesting decorative tile around. The wood floors can be left and only need to be refinished. I so love the idea of copper sinks and the buffet (perfect length, height, and depth) with decorative tile possibly copper. This may be a stretch but I love this chandelier which may be a nice touch (????) https://www.chairish.com/product/691327/french-art-deco-chandelier What do you think? Using what I have a repurposing it saves me so much money I would rather spend elsewhere. Patricia, I think you introduced me to Chairish...thank you...See MoreArtwork placement thoughts
Comments (62)Everdebz, to answer your questions... I don't know how big my dining table is (I haven't seen it in 1.5 years). It seats 6 comfortably or 8 if you crowd the ends. I prefer to keep it to 6. Yes, I am still looking for large scale, abstract, minimalistic art in any colors except red and yellow. I especially like black (if there was a darker color it would be my favorite), grey, dark to medium purple, and dark or rust orange. I'm not a huge fan of whimsical or fantasy. I wouldn't do 3 paintings to make 1 or have something that yells modern cliche to me. I would say I have a thousand dollar taste on a five hundred dollar budget, every time I see some thing I love, I wish it were about half the price. I do understand artists and art dealers need to make a buck but I think my expectations thus far exceed my pocketbook's depth. :)...See MoreRelated Professionals
