Does "warm" grey paint color with blue tone exist?
Comments (32)Okay...all the junk is out! Plan: clean up/mop dust, mortar chips, etc. and spend the evening with my paint samples...narrow down to three or four...paint sample boards, and pick a color. I would love to have time to see the sample boards in different light etc.; but my get-er-done DH scheduled plumbers on Monday and convinced the tile setters to partially grout the shower and come back to finish on Monday too....Grrrr! So...I plan to only paint behind the toilet and area and by bullnose edging. If I pick wrong.....I will not have to do redo the whole room. If I pick the wrong color, I am not worried about repainting near the bullnose; it is the toilet area that worries me. Anyone have a tip for painting behind a toilet that is 1/2 inch from the wall just in case. This is our attempt to correct a horrible inefficient layout...not thrilled about looking at the side of a toilet; but that compromise meant a towel closet in the bathroom (finally), a 60x60 angle shower, and room for a 77" double vanity while eliminating the 3 right angles in the second entrance from the master bath....See MoreBest options to go with these knotted medium brown slab cabinets?
Comments (13)Thanks for all the comments everyone. I especially like those pictures of knotty pine kitchens. I hadn't been using the right search terms to find examples of something like ours. I think it seems like, regardless of what we do... that black or stainless will work better. It just feels like white will stand out too much against the cabinets to do white on all appliances. The dishwasher (in picture) is currently black and goes well as it blends with the knots and the iron hardware. I think the idea of black stainless is cool. I'll have to look into that. I didn't really realize that the hood might not work well and need to be replaced. I guess if not going with retro color then to keep it black. I also like the suggestion of stainless steel for farmhouse sink (if of course it fits the cabinets). Especially if going with black appliances, I imagine it will stand out less. Plus, I'd think stainless steel is easier to keep clean, no worries about chipping and less prone to dish breakage. I'm not sure for the countertops or backsplash. Like I said, considering keeping counters but if we do change... it's tough to settle on stone. We aren't against laminate but at that point, why not keep the yellow one since I do think it's a good color choice. But would love suggestions. My wife mentioned subway tiles (white?) as a clean look against the knotted wood and it would go with the farmhouse sink and rustic feel. Would that work with the black appliances and dark wood or stand out too much? The soffits can also be wall color (which has yet to be decided but likely a cream color) or something different. Again thanks for help thus far and I welcome more ideas and opinions!...See MoreHelp! Selecting laminate wood flooring to suit existing wood furniture
Comments (18)I agree Melinda... I really preferred the feel and look and sound of laminate over vinyl. Having said that, if it was for an investment property I may have picked vinyl as I do think you have to be wary of water spilling on laminate. Mind you, our old cheap laminate (the one we just replaced) had it’s fair share of spills, and survived a few years of my super wet mopping just fine. I’m just more cautious with these new floors as we want them to last....See MoreIn search of neutral medium brown LVP with no red/orange/yellow/gray
Comments (22)I have looked at another store that also had Coretec and several other brands and did find one other that I might consider but somehow the red river hickory is still sitting well with me. At this point, DH really likes it and I am inclined to go with it. I am getting close to ordering. I am going to have them come out and give me an idea of how much product and what the install will actually cost. We will need some removal and I want a finished product ( quarter round, etc) and I don't really have a good idea of what it's going to cost. I usually really shop around but I am really hesitant to have someone install the flooring and then have the manufacturer say it was faulty. We shall see. The Arbor is very nice, but colors like that just look dead in my space....See MoreRelated Professionals
